'She deserves better... he's a c***': Zayn Malik's ex-girlfriend Geneva Lane slams him for dumping Little Mix singer

Zayn's former flame Geneva Lane has lashed out at the singer on Twitter.

The brunette, who briefly dated the heartthrob in 2010 when they both appeared on The X Factor, took no time in siding with heartbroken Little Mix star Perrie in a series of angry tweets after it was revealed he had dumped Perrie.

She wrote: 'Lol (laugh out loud)... Saw that coming. Dunno how she didn't realise sooner what massive c*** he is.

'She deserves so much better than to be treated how she has for so long. So many lies and so much deceit. So wrong. She will come out strong.'

Clearly, Zayn's huge fanbase slipped her mind when she shared her feelings, and she soon was bombarded with angry messages from One Directioners.

'I forgot what the wrath of 1D fans was like! Its only an opinion guys! But thanks for making my feed so active... It's been a while.'

Geneva, who is currently planning her own wedding, met Zayn when they were both taking part in the 2010 series of the hit ITV show.

Then part of girl group Belle Amie, she briefly dated the Bradford-born singer before he struck up a romance with another contestant, Rebecca Ferguson.

She later returned to social media to apologise for her remark, adding: 'I'd like to apologise for my previous tweet. The language was inappropriate and under the circumstances my comment was insensitive.'

Perrie had now choice but to focus on business as the news broke on Tuesday, almost immediately sitting down for an interview with her bandmates to promote their new single Black Magic.

The star appeared on E! shortly after the news broke as she put on a brave face - and was asked how she is coping.

The host asked her: 'Perrie, obviously I know it's a very tough time for you with the news breaking today about you and Zayn, so your fans, I know, are heartbroken.'

The singer appeared emotional, but replied: 'I'm good, thank you.'

Fellow bandmate Leigh-Anne supportively looked out for her heartbroken pal by adding: 'We don't really want to talk about it.'

Just hours after it was revealed that she had been dumped by Zayn, Perrie was hard at work.

However, Perrie - who had been with the singer for four years and engaged to him for two - is said to be 'livid' with her former beau following their unexpected split, which comes just weeks after they bought a £3million house together.

Meanwhile, Zayn has remained silent regarding his decision to break off the engagement, only taking to Twitter to share a picture of a picture of a lotus flower cut-out resting on piano keys.
