Tom Daley swaps his trunks for casual jeans and leather jacket as he steps out after wowing at World Championships in Russia

He spends most of his time in swimming trunks, but Tom Daley has earned his stripes as he stepped out looking relaxed and trendy in his summer white and black shirt.

The 21-year-old Olympic star, took time out of his hectic schedule which saw him compete in the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Russia, to pop into the Radio 1 studios in London on Wednesday.

The Olympic diver first revealed he was in a relationship with a man in 2013, and said coming out as gay made him feel 'more comfortable' straight away.

But speaking 18 months since he came out, he admitted he still 'thinks twice' when he talks about being gay.

'As the months have gone on I've felt more and more comfortable saying it and give me another year and I'll probably feel at my most comfortable but it's still weird,' he previously told Newsbeat.

As for his professional life, it has been a busy week for Tom.

He came third in his last dive at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Russia, while defending champion Qui Bo of China took the title, with USA Olympic gold medallist David Boudia second.

'I've learned to persevere, stick at it and keep going because you never know what can happen in competitions,' Tom said while in Russia.

'It came down to the last dive when we were on the same score but I quite like that competition pressure - I find it fun.

'It's interesting to see the same three people on the podium today as at London 2012. It looks like we've still got it and we just need to shuffle around for next year and hopefully I can end up on top!'
