And Gwen Stefani once again proved she can make any look work as she stepped out in two off-duty outfits in California on Tuesday afternoon.

The singer was seen out and about in the Sherman Oaks area and she drew attention thanks to her eye-catching ‘paint splatter’ effect jeans.

The 45-year-old gave a glimpse of her toned arms as she teamed the boyfriend jeans with a baggy grey top which said: ‘Everyone loves an Italian girl’.

Completing the look with black sunglasses and white trainers, the mother-of-three styled her blonde locks into a tight bun and sported a red manicure.

She later wore one of her favourite Adidas zip-up jackets which put a slither of her flat stomach on display.

The No Doubt singer brought her high-energy brand of pop music to the American capital last week, when she reunited with her band to perform at the Global Citizen event for Earth Day.

The singer was just one of several big-name performers brought in to help focus attention on environmental and poverty issues around the world.

In addition to No Doubt, musical acts included Usher, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Mary J Blige, Train, and My Morning Jacket.

For Gwen, the positive event may have been an excellent change of pace, coming just weeks after she had to obtain a restraining order against a stalker.

The man in question, Richard Portnoy, had made unwanted visits to Gwen's home, her parents' house, and her acupuncturists' office.

The former Voice US coach also made an appearance on Monday night show with the likes of CeeLo Green and Usher.

They were called in to mentor the show's top eight contestants after being invited back by current judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera as the remaining hopefuls battled it out for a place in the final six.
