Ramsay's kitchen nightmare! Gordon sets stove on fire in front of daughter during Late Late Show cooking challenge

He is arguably the world's most famous chef and has a total of 12 Michelin stars.

But that did not stop Gordon Ramsay setting his kitchen of fire during an appearance on James Corden's The Late Late Show on Tuesday night.

It happened after the host challenged Gordon and his daughter 13-year-old daughter Matilda to a cook-off to see who could make the best full English breakfast.

It ain't half hot dad: Gordon Ramsay caused his kitchen to catch fire as he cooked with daughter Matilda on The Late Late Show with James Corden

As he bickered with his Masterchef Junior star girl, Gordon decided to put his bacon directly on the electric hob but it caused plumes of smoke to envelop the cooker.

The foul-mouthed cook giggled nervously as he flames and smoke billowed from the hob, and when he put a pan back down a small fire started.

Gordon then turned the air blue, and had swear words bleeped six times as he patted the fire out with his apron.

It really is Hell's Kitchen: The master chef learned putting bacon on a bare hob is not the best idea

When it was finally extinguished the Scot was given a generous round of applause, but this just drew withering mockery from self-styled funnyman Corden.

‘I’ve got to be honest, you’re clapping but that is not what a real chef would do,’ he said, also telling the Ramsays they were ‘a joke at this’.

Gordon admitted it was not the first time he has had a serious fire mishap in his kitchens.

‘We had the extraction at Claridge’s go up in flames when the flambe went a little too high and it ignited the canopy and we had to evacuate the whole hotel during the press launch for Ocean’s Twelve,’ he said. ‘I got such a b****cking.’

Despite their mishap, the Ramsays were the first to finish their full English, which Gordon sagely explained was ‘crispy bacon, eggs over easy - not too raw, you don’t want to see any of that snot on there, do you? - and baked beans with a little spice with chili powder’.

Corden, meanwhile, had a more unusual approach - cooking the whole thing in one pan, joking that he has only ever cooked it that way ‘drunk at 2am’.

Dynamic duo: But Gordon and his Masterchef Junior star daughter indulged in good-natured bickering throughout the challenge

‘That’s a one-pan f*** up,’ former Glasgow Rangers player Gordon said, quickly covering his young daughter’s ear and apologizing for his swearing.

Earlier, Corden had revealed that the first time the chef was on his show it had also been the ‘most bleeped show we’ve ever had’, adding: ‘We had a total of 27 bleeps.’

‘That is f***ing brilliant,’ Gordon said to laughter, while Masters of Sex star Josh Charles, another guest on the show, added: ‘That is so f***ed up.’

But Gordon said the thing he remembered for most from that first appearance is the meme it created when he did a skit with Julie Chen and held two slices of bread to her head, calling her an ‘idiot sandwich’.

‘Everywhere I go now they come up with two slices of bread and say, “Please please do this!”,’ he admitted of fans.

Gordon called his daughter a ‘pretty good’ TV chef - but she soon teased him by insisting she was the better cook.

‘I’m just more relaxed, I’m not as mean - I’m just more chill to be honest,’ she said.

Corden also showed a photo of the chef with his son James as they both posed topless after finishing an IronMan swim.

‘It looks like he’s cultivating a six pack and you’re cultivating a keg,’ Corden teased the chef.

‘He’s breathing in!’ Gordon protested to laughter.
