Feeling Blue: Leah Remini and husband Angelo break down in tears over loss of beloved pet dog

Losing a pet is never easy, and Leah Remini and her family could not hold back the waterworks as they threw a memorial service for their beloved dog Blue.

In a new episode of her reality TV show Leah Remini: It’s all Relative on Wednesday, the 45-year-old actress and her loved-ones were seen grieving over the loss of their 15-year-old Husky.

And despite initially putting on a macho front and insisting his tears were all dried up after the initial shock of Blue’s death, it was Leah’s husband Angelo who ended up crying the most.

Angelo barely kept it together as he started the first speech during a family get-together as a memorial for Blue - with his sunglasses failing to hide his obvious tears.

Asked if he wanted a tissue he cracked-up his family as he quipped: ‘For what? I’m not crying!’ after he had initially insisted he was 'over crying' as soon as the dog died.

‘When my dog passed, it was one of the toughest moments of my life,’ he explained on the show. ‘I held him as he went to doggy heaven and I got all my crying out at that moment.’

But he was soon seen tearing up as he drove his dad George to help him at an animal crematorium service - and then again when he was in the office discussing his options.

‘I always thought that crying was like water - once it’s out it’s out,’ Angelo said. ‘But apparently my crying was not done. Is there a pill I can take so that I don’t cry?’

He admitted: ‘Everything reminds me of Blue. I step out the door, I expect to see him - I come home, I expect to see him. It’s not easy.’

The former Kings of Queen's star said the death was also hitting her hard, with her deliberately looking for other chores to try to avoid talking about the death with the rest of her family.

‘Anyone has a pet knows - you consider that pet part of the family,’ she said, noting that she was particularly concerned for daughter Sofia as ‘there’s no prepping a child for the loss of a pet’.

‘I just think it’s a good idea, even though everybody’s going to be a mess, to honor him,’ she explained of the memorial gathering at her home, including their dog walker Gia in a sweatshirt saying ‘Blue’s Girl’.

The crew for their show even made them a short video of clips of Blue on the show, with Leah quipping that it had been made to ‘make ‘em cry more’ for viewers.

Later, Angelo had more tears - and made his wife cry again - as he said: ‘The service was brutal. I couldn’t get through two seconds of trying to make any sort of a decent speech towards the closure for this beautiful animal that gave us so much joy for so many years.’

Leah - who ruled against scattering Blue’s ashes in their garden as she feared ’it’s going to go in our mouths’ - tearfully insisted she never wanted another pet.

‘I don’t want to go through this ever again,’ she insisted, wiping away more tears.

Despite the waterworks, there were lighter moments, including when Leah’s mother insisted she was the one to first bring him the dog - which everyone else denied.

And Leah also took great delight in teasing her husband for how he freaked out one night when she brought Blue to bed with them, dramatically recreating how he pulled covers over him and said: ‘Damn it Leah, I’m asthmatic!’

‘Can you imagine, having to have sex with that,’ Leah mocked her husband as he and the crew cracked up.

Angelo clearly had sex on the mind later during the second of two back-to-back new episodes when he tried to get frisky with his wife in front of the cameras, but only getting told off and smacked. ‘You are so disgusting,’ she told him as she walked away.

‘Guess I gotta go take a shower now, you know what I’m saying?’ Angelo told the crew as he headed upstairs.

‘If she doesn’t handle business, somebody’s gotta handle it.’

As he reached the top step he fell, telling the crew: ‘You didn’t see that!’

Angelo had got so excited because he had managed to get Leah to agree with him about looking for a new house rather than radically rework their current home - with him showing clear amazement at her agreeing with him for once.

‘Finally, yeah!’ he smiled. ‘Did you all hear that? She’s actually on board.’

But after looking at a couple of potential new homes, Leah, Angelo and Sofia all agreed that they would rather stay where they are.

‘I don’t think we’re going to find a better house, honestly,’ Angelo said, while Leah added: ‘There’s a lot of memories in this house. It’s just not worth moving for things that we could change.’

Sofia seemed as excited as any of them to make changes, though - shocking her parents as she called the outside of their house ‘ugly’.

But her blood work proved it was all in her mind, with potential pre-diabetic high blood sugars the only thing she had to be concerned about.
