She launched her acting career aged just 14 with a successful stint on teen drama Skins, and she has now shown she is all grown up.

Kaya Scodelario showed off her edgy new purple hair colour as she went out and about in New York on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old actress kept her look simple with a pretty floral sundress, while showing off her bright new locks to maximum effect.

Kaya exhibited her new hair - a combination of her natural brunette hue at and a shock of purple at the tips - in a straight style.

She also showed off her slim legs in a pretty pale dress adorned with maroon flowers, complementing her Havaiana flip-flops of the same colour.

Kaya's sandals provided a glimpse of the delicate floral tattoo etched on her foot, while she carried a holdall and a small handbag.

She took a series of selfies from the hairdressers chair and added the caption: 'Time for a change up...'

After posing for three images in the middle of getting her hair coloured, Kaya shared an image of the finished look, which boasted the two-tone locks in coiffed curls.

In December 2014, Kaya became engaged to fellow actor Benjamin Walker, who she starred opposite in forthcoming movie The Moon And The Sun, following a whirlwind romance.

The actor presented her with a stunning diamond ring, which she proudly showed off on social media, where the jewel sits on her ring finger alongside a tattoo of her fiancee's name.

Kaya and Benjamin have been in Australia of late as the actress films Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is due for release in 2017.
