Jodie Foster is currently taking a break from filming upcoming thriller Money Monster.

And the award-winning actress is maintaining a low profile as she enjoys the time off.

Jodie, 52, stepped out in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday and she cut an understated figure in a comfortable ensemble.

Comfort was the order of the day and she slipped on a green motif T-shirt, which was emblazoned with the words, 'The free city, Gospel', a pair of black straight-leg jeans and thong-style flip-flops.

The Elysium star slung a blue and white striped backpack over one shoulder and carried a pair of espadrilles in the opposite hand.

She opted to forgo make-up and bared her radiant complexion which looked to be in pristine condition.

Jodie scraped her long brown hair back and kept it firmly in place with a large black hair clasp.

She was seen browsing the shelves in a local bookstore and kept her head down as she went about her day.

After stacking up countless Hollywood film credits, including Taxi Driver, The Silence of the Lambs and Panic Room, Jodie has turned her hand to directing.

Having directed two episodes of Orange Is the New Black and one episode of House of Cards, she's currently working on 2016 Hollywood hit Money Monster which stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and British-born Jack O'Connell.

George plays Lee Gates - a TV personality whose insider tips have made him the money guru of Wall Street.

When Kyle Budwell, played by Jack, loses all of his family's funds on a bad tip, he holds Lee and his entire studio crew hostage on live air and threatens to kill Lee if he doesn't deliver.

Julia plays a Financial News Network reporter and is also George's romantic interest, a familiar role for the pair as they played lovers in the Ocean's franchise.
