Miranda Kerr's family opens new cafe with a menu boasting calorie-laden milk sundaes topped with banoffee pies... but would the supermodel actually eat there?

She credits an almost obsessively healthy, alkaline based diet for helping maintain her incredibly trim supermodel figure.

So it comes as somewhat of a surprise that Miranda Kerr's family have opened a new restaurant with a very well endowed, and likely quite calorie-laden, dessert menu.

The former Victoria's Secret favourite's brother Matty, opened the doors of Nanna Kerr's Kitchen on Thursday alongside his fiance Jimmy Wright.

The quaint countryside venue, located south east of the 31-year-old beauty's hometown in Rothbury in the NSW Hunter Region, boasts a variety of tantalising desserts including homemade trifle, caramel dumplings and Nan's crumble.

Matty's signature sundaes topped with the customer's choice of mini-pastry from mud cake, Cherry Ripe chaos, banoffee pie and lemon meringue, are also on offer.

But aside from the sweet treats, the breakfast and all-day dinning meals are more in line with Miranda's eating habits with mostly organic and locally farmed produce being used.

Gluten free and vegan options are also available including chia pudding with 'no chocolate' and cashew caramel sauce, homemade patte and all vegetable 'sausage' rolls.

Hearty family favourites haven't been left behind at their expense however, and a steak dinner with fried onions, sausage and creamy mash potato also finds its way onto the menu.

While doors opened for the first time the week, the restaurant's official launch isn't for another two months, with an October 21 date scheduled according to their website.

Fitted out with a traditional country feel true to the restaurant's name, the barnyard-style complex is complete with timber chairs, knitted throws and antique mirrors.

Matty, who later plans to open a bed and breakfast next door, is the latest Kerr family member to following in Miranda's entrepreneurial footsteps.

After founding skin care range Kora Organics with Miranda, her mother Therese went on to launch her own chemical free and certified organic personal hygiene products as well as a book titled Lunch Box Solutions.

Miranda, who is believed to be dating 25-year-old SnapChat founder Evan Spiegel, recently gave details of her decidedly healthy diet to Your Fitness.

'I like to start the day off right with something healthy and clean like a fresh juice, egg whites with avocado or oatmeal,' she said of her usual breakfast.

The brunette stunner also avoids binging on junk food or snacking on sugary treats by carrying 'healthy snacks that are easily transportable' like 'fresh fruit, nuts and seeds'.

Like fellow Australian model Elle Macpherson, she follows an 'alkaline-based diet' and drinks between 'two to three litres of alkaline water every day to stay hydrated'.

But it isn't all about what she eats, and Miranda also added that she's careful to keep up very regular exercise sessions that range from 'resistance training to yoga, hiking to going for a bike ride with my son [four-year-old Flynn]'.
