Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelly's wife Cassie McConnell defies the odds as she gets pregnant (after doctors told couple they only had a 1% chance of conceiving)

Lady Antebellum guitarist Charles Kelly and his wife, Cassie McConnell, will soon turn their duet into a trio.

On Friday, Cassie, 32, announced on her Womanista blog that she was pregnant with the couple's first child.

Having dealt with fertility issues up to this point, Cassie and her 33-year-old husband were even more eager than usual to share the news.

'Charles and I are SO BEYOND EXCITED to share with y'all that we are expecting a baby!' Cassie wrote.

'He or she is due in February and we are so happy we can hardly stand it. Like, ecstatic and I'm crying even as I type those words!'

The couple has been together for ten years and married in June 2009, but they had previously been unable to conceive.

'This journey to become a family of 3 has been a long, interesting, sometimes fun and sometimes heartbreaking road,' explained Cassie.

'I just assumed that when we wanted to start a family, it would happen just like that. Well, it didn't.'

Upon consulting with a fertility doctor in the couple's hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, Charles and Cassie learned that they had only a one-percent chance of conceiving naturally.

'As far as percentages go, that's not awesome,' Cassie wrote.

They decided to wait until after the summer before exploring in-vitro fertilization or other options but instead got a surprise right at the beginning of the season.

'I woke up one morning in June and there it was, a positive pregnancy test,' Cassie wrote. 'I was in shock. Happy shock, but shock.'

Although she did not go into details, Cassie implied that this pregnancy was a natural one that simply defied the odds.

She finished up the blog post with a word to others who were having trouble getting pregnant: 'My prayer is that if you are struggling with trying to conceive a child, you will remain hopeful.'
