As the youngest of the world famous clan, Kylie Jenner was thrust into the spotlight at an impressionable age.

Not only has her star risen rapidly in recent years, the teenager's style has had a dramatic overhaul to keep up with her burgeoning fame.

As the reality TV star turns 18, FEMAIL charts the ever-changing wardrobe of the style icon, how she's been copying big sister Kim, and why brother-in-law Kanye West has told her to stop dressing like his wife.

To celebrate her 18th birthday at a lavish bash at celebrity hotspot, The Nice Guy, on Sunday evening, Kylie Jenner stole the spotlight in a long-sleeved silver mini-dress covered in crystals and featuring nude panels throughout. The youngster, who once favoured baggy slogan T-shirts, floral tea dresses and skinny jeans, has been stepping out in an array of bodycon dresses, thigh high lace-up boots and revealing crop tops in recent months.

Some have dubbed her sartorial choices inappropriate, others hail her a fashion icon.

After days of build-up, Kylie Jenner has finally hit the big 1-8 and she did it in style in that blonde wig - a bit of a change indeed!

Indeed, Kylie calls her older sister a style icon in the same way that Kim has acknowledged her youngest sibling for her edgy fashion choices.

And recently, the Keeping Up With The Kardashian stars were once again drawing inspiration from each other's wardrobes donning similar olive coloured dresses.

The 17-year-old starlet was seen near Los Angeles recently dressed in a strapless Sorella dress with rumoured boyfriend Tyga, while Kim was spotted in New York City styled in a matching body hugging tank dress.

Apparently sartorial prowess is a genetic trait among the Kardashian-Jenner family, specifically in the case of Kim and Kylie who share the same mother, Kris Jenner.

The pair have been pictured numerous times emulating each other's attire in a range of casual and formal wear.

Not only do they have the same stylist - Monica Rose - but also share the same glam squad including makeup artist Joyce Bonelli, Rob Scheppy and Scotty Cunha.

'The people who really inspire me style-wise are obviously Kim and Kanye,' Kylie said when asked who her fashion icons are.

Kanye West has, however, reportedly advised Kylie to stop dressing like wife, Kim Kardashian West.

The rapper is a big supporter of Kim's half-sister and thinks she has great 'potential' to become a superstar in her own right so he told her to 'create her own identity' rather than copy Kim's style.

A source told HollywooLife.com: 'Kanye is Kylie's biggest supporter and loves the young lady she is becoming. He's definitely been championing her for years as he sees real superstar potential in Kylie.

'That's why he felt OK telling her that she needs to stop copying every move Kim makes and create her own identity.'

Kylie paid attention to her brother-in-law's advice but admitted she can't help but be inspired by Kim's look because she respects her fashion sense so much.

The source added: 'Kanye worships Kim and he has told Kylie there can only be one of her. Kylie hears what he's saying but honestly, (she) doesn't know where to take her look at this point. She's digging her looks and style and doesn't really care if she's stepping on Kim's toes a little.'

It isn't just her style that has changed dramatically; Kylie's beauty look as had something of an overhaul in recent months.

With her perfectly contoured skin and plump pout, Kylie Jenner's signature beauty look has become hugely sought-after.

Indeed, her name yields 200,000 results of makeup tutorials on YouTube, her lips sparked their own social media challenge and her favourite MAC lip pencil experienced a worldwide shortage after she plugged it.

However, that hasn't stopped the teen, who is more experimental in the beauty stakes than her older sisters, from facing criticism.

Rumours began circulating about the reality star's appearance, after she showed off cleavage at a number of events.

But the then 17-year-old posted a video on Snapchat in June denying she's had any work done.

Instead, she claims her ample cleavage is all down to a much cheaper and far less invasive remedy.

'To whoever thinks I had breast implants, there’s a whole lot of tape in here holding these up,' she insists in the short clip.

She then pulls aside her top to reveal some of the telltale tape stuck to her left breast.

It's not the first time the teenager has come out in denying she has had any body augmentation.

In May, she finally came clean and admitted to having lip fillers, having denied the same for more than a year.

It was during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians that she finally made the admission.

'I have had temporary lip fillers,' she said. 'It's just something that I wanted to do.'

She insisted at the time that she 'wasn't ready' to talk directly to the press about the procedure and instead decided not to 'confirm or deny' it when asked by reporters.

In the same episode her sister Khloe Kardashian warned her that avoiding the question would make her 'look like a liar'.

Beforehand, the youngest Jenner continuously insisted her suddenly inflamed pout was merely a make-up trick, or that she was simply 'growing up'.

Plastic surgeons have spoken against having such procedures before the age of 21, as most girls have not finished growing.

Despite Kylie's continued denials, the rest of the world got in on the joke, prompting a short -lived social media craze called the Kylie Jenner Challenge, in which participants would suck their lips into shot glasses, often with horrifying results.

Just like her sisters, Kylie has seen her star rise at a rapid rate.

Earlier this year, she was unveiled as the ambassador for beauty brand Nip + Fab, landed herself a shoot in the highly acclaimed fashion bible Carine Roitfeld's Fashion Book and walked in brother-in-law Kanye West's fashion show.

Kylie also landed the cover of Fault magazine and looked high fashion as she posed in an Alexander Wang crop top with her hair pulled to the side in a fishtail plait.

More experimental than her sisters in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kylie regularly posts pictures of herself trying out different make-up and outfits on her Instagram account to her 26m followers.
