The Covered Bridges of Michigan
Flood, fire and modernization have taken their toll on the covered bridges of Michigan.   Where once hundreds of covered bridges spanned the State's rivers and creeks, now less than a dozen remain
Though few in number compared with neighboring states, Michigan's covered bridges offer a diversity of settings and architectural styles spanning a broad range of history and culture.
The remaining group includes original 19th century survivors, replicas of predecessors lost to the elements, and a transplant from Pennsylvania.
