Blue's Lee Ryan 'could lose his voice if he doesn't have throat surgery to remove aggressive cyst'

He became famous as the frontman of Blue.

But, fourteen years after the first topped the charts, it's claimed Lee Ryan could lose his voice if he doesn't have imminent surgery.

According to The Mirror, he found a lump in his throat - and while he is relieved it's not cancerous, doctors have warned that he will lose the use of his voice entirely if he doesn't have it removed.

The 'All Rise' singer is said to be 'devastated' because the boy band - Duncan James, Anthony Costa and Simon Webbe - were meant to go on tour in autumn and Lee thinks he is letting them down if he has to pull out.

The 32-year-old, from Chatham in Kent, saw a specialist in London on Friday who found a 'huge white lump' which is more than likely caused by stress.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'They found a huge white lump on his vocal cords. He had known something was wrong for a long time and even feared it was cancer.

Fighting fit: Lee is said to be 'devastated' following the postponement of the tour that was scheduled to start in October, but is looking forward to being fit and well again, as he hopes to on stage with the band in 2016

'The boys have a European tour in October. He feels he's letting them down because that's now looking unlikely. They are devastated. It isn't cancer but an aggressive cyst that is growing quickly. Stress can be a factor and he's had plenty of that.'

According to the source, his band mates have said his health comes first - despite wanting him to perform on tour in October.

If Lee goes ahead with the treatment, he won't be able to speak for some weeks after.

However, this isn't the first bit of testing news he's revealed, this year. In April he become the fourth and final member of Blue to declare himself bankrupt.

Lee's financial troubles come after all three members have previously declared themselves bankrupt over the past two years.

Duncan James was the first singer to make the declaration. He was listed as bankrupt by the High Court on September 12, 2013. Just three weeks later, Simon Webbe filed papers after running into financial problems earlier in the year.

And Antony Costa admitted he was going bankrupt two months after becoming a father for the second time in August 2014.

MailOnline have contacted a representative for Lee Ryan and are awaiting a response.
