Speck will be incarcerated at the Monroe County Jail from 8am to 8pm on August 10 to 13 and August 18 to the 21st so that he will be behind bars while a health professional is on duty, The Herald-Times reported.
The arrangement was requested by Speck's attorney Thomas Farlow, as the jail's nurses are only available to attend to inmates from 6am to 9pm.
Farlow said having Speck incarcerated only within those hours will reduce 'the risk that he will suffer a debilitating panic attack'.
The attorney said in court papers that he and the Mellencamp family consulted with UCLA psychiatry professor Dr. Daniel Siegel regarding his client's condition.
'Dr. Siegel determined it prudent that Speck's confinement coincide with times when a healthcare professional is available,' the papers read.
'Dr. Siegel recommends incarceration be sequenced during daytime periods to enable continuous observation and supervision by jail staff, including medical personnel for emergency assessment of treatment.'
Farlow said a doctor had also prescribed Speck with medication to treat the panic disorder.
His brother was sentenced to 50 hours of community service.
The brothers' charges were reduced from felonies in April.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Bob Miller said the charges were downgraded because medical records did not substantiate 'serious bodily injury' as charged in the felony cases.
Court documents said the brothers, along with teenager Ty Smith, 'punched, kicked and stomped' the man, who suffered facial fractures and cuts requiring stitches.
Smith is the son of a baseball coach at Indiana University.
Singer John Mellencamp (pictured at a concert this year) did not attend his sons' hearing in April
Authorities previously said Speck entered the porch of the 19-year-old's home on July 29, 2013, and punched him in the face, believing the teen had hit him earlier that evening.
Speck told police 'it never occurred to him [to report the original alleged assault]' and that he was 'upset'.
The brothers were also sentenced to one year of probation.
Speck and Hud's mother, model Elaine Irwin, attended their hearing in April, but their father John did not.
John Mellencamp has been in an on-again off-again romance with You've Got Mail actress Meg Ryan for several years. He divorced Irwin in 2011.
