'I'd like to offer my deepest condolences': Channing Tatum takes to social media to pay tribute to fallen Green Beret he met on USO tour 

He always posts social media tributes to the men and women who served in the armed forces on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

And on Monday, Channing Tatum took to Instagram and Twitter to pay his respects to the family of First Sergeant Peter Andrew McKenna, who was killed during an enemy attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Friday. He was 35.

The actor, who is also 35, met the Green Beret when he visited the NATO facility in Kabul during a USO tour in February.

The Magic Mike XXL star posted a photo of himself, co-star Adam Rodriguez and actor Nick Zano with Sgt. McKenna, adding a touching tribute.

'I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of First Sergeant Peter Andrew McKenna, a brave soldier we had the honor of meeting in Afghanistan. He tragically lost his life in an attack on one of the bases we visited on @theuso tour back in February.

'Let's always remember to thank the men and women who serve this country and so often sacrifice their own lives for ours,' he wrote.

The 17-year Army veteran from Bristol, Rhode Island, was among some 1,500 troops the actors spent time with while visiting seven army bases and the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, according to People.

The 7th Special Forces Group reported Sgt. McKenna's death on Sunday, the same day the Pentagon revealed he had been killed by small arms fire.

Sgt. McKenna had completed five tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq and had been awarded the Bronze Star with V device for heroism in combat operations, as well as the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal, according to the Army Times.

Channing is always quick to pay tribute to members of the armed forces on national holidays. 

On May 25, Memorial Day, the star posted a picture of the Marine Corp. War Memorial statue and a quote from John F. Kennedy: 'The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it.' 

He added: 'Today we honor our service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you is not enough... #MemorialDay '

On November 11 he shared an Instagram of boots next to a list of names chiselled into black marble, with the message: 'Today and everyday, we honor all who serve and thank you for your sacrifice. Happy Veterans Day!'
