The 25-year-old, who is the proud mum of Tobias, was seen out hitting the waves in Hawaii on Monday.

Wearing a blue T-shirt and bikini, she was mistress of the water as she surfed backside.

Twisting and turning she was on the crest of the waves perfectly in control of her board.

Bethany was the victim of a brutal shark attack in 2003, which saw her lose her left arm aged just 13 years old.

However she returned to the waves, and went on to be a successful professional surfer.

The new mum, who put her passion on the backburner for the latter part of her pregnancy, took to Instagram on Sunday and posted an inspirational message to other mothers who may be feeling the pressure to get back into shape.

She said: 'I've seen many comments on "her post birth body." I find it silly for us as women to worry about our body as we grow a human being inside of us!

'It is such an amazing feat to go through pregnancy. And then you have this wonderful lil being that is part you and part of your significant other.

'It's natural and HEALTHY to gain weight. Here I am two months after giving birth to Tobias. I feel great and healthy!

'It takes 9 months for our bodies to change and grow. So I can say it's alright to take your time, maybe about 9 months, to get back to the new, healthy, beautiful, and normal you.'

Bethany married her partner Adam Dirks in 2013 - and the couple were delighted when they welcomed their son into the world,

The interview was 'liked' online 98,000 times - Bethany said: 'In baby terms I'm about 22 weeks, which is about halfway there.

'It's been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we're going to be parents. Life's kind of going to be changing and kind of just started to prep for bringing a new little being into the world.'

'It's really exciting. I've been surfing through my whole pregnancy. I plan to surf as long as I can.'

Bethany admitted that her missing arm could prove challenging when it comes to her baby boy.

'Motherhood with one arm, I kind of think about it. I kind of forget I have one arm, a squirming baby and changing diapers and just me could be really challenging,' she said. 'But I think how I live life now. I just adjust and adapt to different things and I'll find my own ways to take care of the baby.'

When Bethany lost her arm - and a shocking 60 per cent of the blood in her body - she was surfing off the coast of Kauai. Incredibly, she survived the attack.

In later interviews, she revealed she did not feel pain as her family rushed her to hospital.

Despite her injuries, Bethany did not give up on her surfing dreams, and began competing professionally four years later in 2007. In 2010, she was the 20th ranked woman among surfers.

Bethany's experience became an inspiration to many after she wrote about it in the book, Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board.

The book was made into a movie with Dennis Quaid and Carrie Underwood in 2011.

Actress Anna Sophia Robb portrayed Bethany, but the surfer did all of her one-armed stunts.

Bethany, who cites her Christian faith as one of her biggest inspirations to pursuing her surfing career, is also a motivational speaker. She regularly tours the country to tell her amazing story.

Her Christian youth minister husband also shares her religious beliefs.

The surfer is currently filming the bipoic, 'Surfs Like A Girl', with filmmaker Aaron Lieber.
