'No longer am I the Duchess of Pork': Fergie is reduced to selling $60 juicer she credits for weight loss on shopping channel QVC

  • The Duchess of York joined presenters on the US shopping channel
  • Revealed she had finally be able to overcome cruel jibes about weight
  • Credited American people for helping her regain her confidence

She is famous for her yo-yo dieting and was once branded the ‘Duchess of Pork’, but Sarah Ferguson has said she has finally put her days of being overweight behind her.

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew, who revealed her 3 stone 9lb (55lb) weightloss earlier this year, made an appearance on US shopping channel QVC promoting the healthy juicer she credits with helping her shedding the pounds.

The 55-year-old mother-of-two, who this month revealed she has finally moved out of her ex-husband’s mansion to set up home in a £13m Swiss chalet, said she made her own juices with the gadget, which is currently on sale at $59.97 (£38.39).

Speaking to the QVC host at the channel’s headquarters in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Sarah - whose was believed to weigh 16 stone (224lbs) at her heaviest, said: 'No longer am I the Duchess of Pork ... or fat frumpy Fergie... It broke my heart.'

The Duchess who previously promoted Weight Watchers in the US also thanked the American people for giving her daughters their mother back and for believing in second chances.

She added: 'Americans have been so good to me. They helped me build my confidence.

Flatter your figure in a Roland Mouret dress like Fergie

She may have been a yo-yo dieter in the past but Sarah Ferguson looked trimmer than ever in her latest ensemble.

The Duchess stunned for her appearance on a shopping channel in this colorblock dress from the king of figure-flattering frocks, Roland Mouret.

Ever since creating the iconic 'Galaxy' dress, Mouret's dresses, with their signatures folds, pleats and ruffles, have become synonymous with accentuating your curves.

We love Fergie's pick here for that delicious green and blue colorway, with the colorblock detail cleverly drawing attention to her waist. Styled with simple, nude courts and a box clutch, it'll look great at any occasion, from a summer wedding to a day in the office.

Sadly, this 'Pixton' dress was so popular it's now sold out, but click (right) to snap up the new season version now. Or get the look for less with our top alternatives below. We love this reduced French Connection offering, or splash out at Milly.

'I've made a few mistakes, put on weight and done this, that and the other and now because of the American people, I wanted to be really honest with them.'

She appeared on the show at midnight US time promoting a food blender and 'pick me up' smoothies.

Before her appearance, Sarah tweeted: ‘Looking forward to talking about #Duchessdiscoveries on @QVC starting at midnight.’

She joined a live demonstration on how to make a breakfast smoothie containing lemon peel, cayenne pepper, ginger and pineapple, and an iced coffee with whipped cream as she talked about the juicer from her Duchess Discoveries range.

The Duchess spoke of how she turned to the Fusion Xcelerator blender, billed as Today's Special Value Item, after she 'ballooned up' in weight, but that she did not use a chef and made her smoothies herself to get back in shape.

She told the host: I ballooned to about 192lbs. I saw a picture of myself and I needed to change my life and I went in search of the perfect way to change my life.'

She revealed that before resorting to juicing she had tried more extreme liquid diets: 'I tried three weeks of drinking clay and water!'

Sarah promotes the juicer on her website Duchess Discoveries. It says: 'Discover how the Duchess lost 55 pounds by emulsifying foods with the Fusion Xcelerator.

'You can lose weight, too!'

Speaking previously about her weightloss, Sarah said she considered herself to be a food addict and had worked hard to beat that addiction.

She told E! News: 'I got to a point where I just couldn’t bare looking at myself any minute longer.

'I was 190 pounds (6 stone 4lbs) a year ago and I was miserable. You look at the top of the mountain, you think you’re never going to get there.'

The former royal also confessed to being a comfort eater, adding: 'I’ve been a comfort eater since I was about 12 years old and I used food as my friend.

'In fact, the size of my a** probably saved my life. Sorry, to speak like that, but let’s be honest. Had I not just chosen food as my friend, I would have chosen something else.'

Sarah has struggled with her weight over the years resorting to bizarre methods in a hope to shed the pounds.

In March last year she revealed to the Mail on Sunday that she the secret of her recent dramatic weight loss where she lost 42lbs in eight weeks was down to eating venison for breakfast, shredded broccoli in place of pasta, thick, green spinach smoothies and avocado mixed with cacao powder as a special treat.

This was part of an extreme eight week weight loss boot camp holing up in a luxury chalet in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier, together with a private chef and personal trainer Josh Salzmann.

Sarah earlier this month revealed how she is moving out of her ex-husband's mansion to begin an 'independent life' - almost 20 years after their divorce.

Sarah will also keep a room in the prince’s official residence, Royal Lodge at Windsor, as well as renting a flat in London for when she is in the capital ‘on business’.

Andrew is said to be supportive of his ex-wife’s decision and the pair remain close ‘as friends and parents’, said a source.

The move will spark speculation that she is stepping up her ‘intense friendship’ with internet entrepreneur Manuel Fernandez, 47, with whom she has had several luxury holidays recently.

CHILDREN'S AUTHOR

Sarah Ferguson has released 41 children's books thanks to the success of her titles and TV cartoons about Budgie The Little Helicopter.

Her children's series about Budgie the Little Helicopter were the inspiration for a popular animated television series.

On release of the first book, the Duchess was forced to deny she had copied the idea for the series from the earlier Hector the Helicopter book by A.W. Baldwin.

WEIGHT WATCHERS AMBASSADOR

Fergie was an ambassador for Weight Watchers for over ten years which paid her a nicely rounded £2million a year.

However in 2007 a source revealed that she was planning to cut back from her commitments to the brand.

'The Duchess will be scaling back,' reported a source.

'She works about 25 days a year for Weight Watchers and, because of a number of projects in the pipeline, she wants to cut down on her other work commitments.'

SCENTED CANDLES

Sarah Ferguson teamed up with American business man Harry Slatkin to create a range of scented candles in 2006.

The candles were rolled out in stores ahead of the festive season taking their scent from the quintessentially British tea.

'If you taste and smell tea,' Fergie said at the time, 'it appeals to the senses. Jasmine tea, mint tea - it all has this delicious smell and aroma. When I was 24, I got a migraine every 20 minutes and it was ginger-root-infused tea that stopped them.'

TEA BAG COMPANY

In May this year as her daughter Princess Beatrice prepared for her first day at a high-powered private equity firm in New York, Sarah revealed that she had launched her own tea bag business.

Ever keen to capitalise on the American thirst for all things British, the Duchess of York has created a selection of 'quintessentially British' teas which she plans to sell across the pond where both of her daughters now live.

The teas will be sold through her new company Ginger & Moss – the name 'Ginger' is a nod to her flame-red hair – but it is understood that the labels currently being printed in Britain actually read 'tea with The Duchess'.

Sarah, 55, helped to come up with a variety of sweet sugar-free tea flavours including 'jam roly-poly' during a 2013 weight-loss boot camp with her trainer Josh Salzmann in the Swiss Alps.

The drinks supposedly helped to curb her cravings for hot chocolate, and she later sent a selection of tea bags to friends with their Christmas cards.

Her range has been blended and packaged in Kent, and as well as sweet options such as mint humbug, the emphasis has been on 'quintessentially British flavours' including Earl Grey and English Breakfast, which she hopes will appeal in the US.

The tea bags have been packaged in long, thin After Eight-style boxes of 25, which will come in various bright colours including 'poppy red'.

INFOMERCIAL STAR

The Duchess of York appeared in a film plugging a range of products including the bizarrely named ‘Fusion Xcelerator food emulsifier’ in January this year.

Called Duchess Discoveries, the 28-minute ‘infomercial’ is scheduled aired on American television this year.

Described as a ‘powerful micro-emulsification system’, the seven-piece machine costing $99.99 (£65) also comes with the Duchess’s meal plan. Manufacturers claim the processor breaks down food into a ‘micro-cellular pre-digestive state’ and ‘captures all of the essential vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and phyto-nutrients’ to ensure the healthiest smoothies.
