Billy Joel and his wife Alexis Roderick welcomed a healthy baby girl early in the morning on Wednesday.

And the legendary 66-year-old singer made it just in time as he was spotted hopping off a helicopter in New York on Tuesday.

People magazine reports that Billy and his 33-year-old wife welcomed Della Rose Joel at 2:40 am, weighing in at seven pounds and six-and-a-half ounces.

‘Billy is thrilled to become a dad again,’ a source told People.

This is Joel’s first child with Roderick, though he and his ex-wife Christie Brinkley had a daughter together – Alexa Ray, 29.

Joel married his fourth wife Roderick, who is an established equestrian, over the Fourth of July weekend on Long Island with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presiding over the ceremony.

Before the late night labor, Joel appeared to make it just in time as he was spotted Tuesday touching down via helicopter in New York.

The legendary singer/songwriter likely got word that his wife was ready to give birth, causing him to hop on the heli and head home.

As he exited the chopper, Billy carried his travel bag and wore blue jeans, a blazer and hat and sunglasses.

Billy’s been playing shows nation-wide recently so it’s likely that he was away from his hometown of New York on official tour business.

As a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Joel is known for his classic sing-along ballads like Piano Man.

The next stop on Billy’s tour is scheduled for Thursday night in Philadelphia, though the tour will continue across the US through December.
