Obama hits the golf course (where else?) with NBA legends Ray Allen and Alonzo Mourning on his annual vacation to Martha's Vineyard

  • Obama has wasted no time hitting the golf course during his annual Martha's Vineyard summer vacation
  • He was spotted on Wednesday playing with NBA stars Ray Allen and Alonzo Mourning as well as his usual opponent, Cyrus Walker
  • The president played with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim on Monday
  • On Saturday he played with Seinfeld Creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David as well as Walker
  • Obama decided at the last minute to fly to Martha's Vineyard island a day early
  • He, Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha will be on the island until August 23
  • A cluster of senior aides join their 17-day trip to keep Obama up-to-date

US President Barack Obama hit the golf course on Wednesday for the third time since Friday with some star athletes who already made names for themselves in a different sports arena..

He was joined on Wednesday by NBA legends Ray Allen and Alonzo Mourning, as well as his usual opponent, Cyrus Walker, the cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, at Farm Neck Golf Club.

Obama and Allen were seen sharing laughs as they drove through the course on a golf cart, while the president was spotted having a chat with Walker on the putting green.

Rain may have kept Obama inside on Tuesday, but he has hit the courses several times since beginning his Martha's Vineyard vacation, as he was spotted over the weekend and on Monday with several golf mates.

On Saturday, he was seen at Farm Neck Golf Club with Walker, Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David, and former UBS Investment Bank head Robert Wolf.

During his 18 holes with World Bank president Jim Yong Kim at Vineyard Golf Club on Monday, his hands were showing a bit of wear and tear from his weekend swing.

He sported separate bandages on the middle and ring fingers of his left hand, which he plays with, as he played the course with Kim. On Wednesday, the bandages remained in place.

The Obamas are vacationing on the upscale island for two weeks, as they do almost every year.

It will likely be the family's last pit-stop at their luxurious rented seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom retreat since it went on the market in July for a cool $22.5million.

And it seems the president was eager to savor every moment as he decided at the last minute to fly on Friday afternoon, rather than Saturday as originally planned.

Obama beamed and laughed as he boarded Air Force One with Michelle - still wearing his work suit.

When they disembarked, he emerged looking relaxed without a jacket or tie to greet the crowds.

With no official appearances on the schedule, Obama, Michelle and their youngest daughter Sasha will spend the time away from Washington dabbling in their usual vacation activities: leisurely rounds of golf, beach outings, hikes and bike rides, and dinner at some of the island's top restaurants.

A cluster of top aides will also enjoy a 17-day stay on the island, known as a summer hangout for the wealthy, to update the president as developments warrant.

Malia is thought to be in New York continuing with her internships. She was most recently working on the set of Lena Dunham's show Girls.

Obama has visited the island every year of his presidency, except during the 2012 re-election campaign.

As he wrapped up his duties in the White House on Friday and anticipated his getaway he seemed jovial and excited.

'I know you'll miss me,' he joked to reporters after signing a bill preserving wilderness land in Idaho.

Obama has to be hoping for a more relaxed summer holiday.

Last year, he was forced to break his self-imposed vacation silence several times to address political developments in Iraq, the beheading of journalist James Foley by Islamic State militants and violent protests that erupted in Ferguson, Missouri.

He also returned to the White House in the middle of last year's vacation - but this year he plans to remain on the island until August 23, when he gets back to work.

However, he will be on standby for hiccups from Congress as members deliberate over Obama's recent Iran deal, ahead of a vote next month to determine the deal's fate.
