Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Wales’ own superman George North, and he looks on course to be a highflyer at the World Cup.

The Lions wing, who hasn’t made a competitive appearance since his latest concussion setback in late March, tested his mettle on a 70mph zip wire in north Wales and was involved in a full contact public practice match on Tuesday.

North now looks likely to face Ireland in Dublin on August 29 and captain Sam Warburton said: ‘He’s been training very well from day one and I never had any doubt that he would miss the World Cup.
