SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Back from the dead, Dan makes Lady Mary smile

As Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, Dan Stevens was last seen on Christmas Day three years ago lying stone dead after his AC Six Roadster was involved in a head-on collision with a van.

This week, the dashing 32-year-old actor returned from the grave to join Michelle Dockery, 33, who played his on-screen widow, Lady Mary.

The pair were at Richmond Theatre, in South-West London, where Downton was presented with a special award by Bafta to celebrate the global success of the series, which ends on Christmas Day.

Stevens, who was sporting modish facial fuzz, has yet to set Hollywood ablaze since fleeing Downton, but that could all change with his forthcoming role in Beauty And The Beast. Hairy Dan plays the Beast.
