Jennifer Hawkins has made a brave return to the catwalk just hours after her mother underwent surgery for kidney cancer on Thursday.

The 31-year-old took to the runway to rehearse for the Myer Spring 2015 Fashion Launch after dashing back to Sydney from Newcastle, where her mother Gail is now recovering from the procedure.

The former Miss Universe winner looked pretty in a hot pink Alex Perry fit and flare mini dress teamed with Gladiator heels.

Strutting down the long white catwalk at Carriageworks arts centre, Jennifer put on her best smile as she showcased the department store's upcoming collections.

The blonde beauty also wore an evil eye pendant around her neck, as well as her diamond engagement and wedding ring from her husband of two years, Jake Wall.

The statuesque stunner was joined on the runway by her peers and pals Kris Smith, Rachael Finch and Kate Peck.

Earlier in the day Jennifer took to Instagram to inform her fans and loved ones her mother's operation had been successfully completed and that she was now in recovery.

Posting a picture of herself, Gail and her father Robert to social media, she wrote in a caption alongside it:

'Mum went in for her operation at 630am and the doctor said she was such a trooper. We just got some amazing news... She is in recovery and all ok!!! Thank you so much for your positive energy & best wishes !! It's is such a relief for my family. Lv to you x'

Jennifer returned to the coastal city from Newcastle, where her mother has been receiving treatment, earlier this week as she prepares for the forthcoming catwalk event.

It is understood that she will take the two-hour journey back in order to be by her recovering mother's side when the show, which takes place at Sydney's Carriageworks, draws to a close.

Jen previously spoke about 'the most emotional week of my life' after revealing Gail's cancer diagnosis in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

'It's been really lovely, just the whole family has been really strong and have all come together,' she said. 'I feel like all of our energy will be with her'.

'It's probably been the weirdest week, the most emotional week of my life I guess.'

Jennifer's manager confirmed the news to the Daily Telegraph in an earlier statement that read: 'Jen and her family are shocked at the news but know that Gail is in the best of hands.'

Blonde beauty Jennifer has been an ambassador for Myer Australia for eight years alongside male British-born model Kris Smith.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, Kris admitted the model had the full support of the Myer team as she prepares to walk the runway.

'I know how supportive her mother is of her and she would be telling her to go and do it,' he said. 'The family are going through a tough time at the moment… but (the Myer team) are here as the support,' he said.

'(The show) is a great distraction for her as well. She's a complete and utter professional, she's shown it for many, many, many years and this time is no different,'
