And in a bizarre turn of events, Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis, also formerly of Bayern, was also pictured discovering a parking ticket on the windscreen of his Mercedes car.

In a remark picked up by a courtside microphone, Kyrgios (inset) told Swiss opponent Stan Wawrinka that a teenage player had 'banged' his girlfriend. Kyrgios, 20, is believed to have been referring to 19-year-old Croatian Donna Vekic (right) who has been romantically to Wawrinka since his divorce earlier this year. Kyrgios went on to beat Wawrinka (pictured far left during a frosty handshake with the Australian) after the Swiss star retired with a back injury in the final set. Wawrinka, the reigning Australian and French Open champion, later condemned the remarks on Twitter, saying: 'To [stoop] so low is not only unacceptable but also beyond belief'.

England's players held a meeting ahead of Saturday's opening World Cup warm-up match calling for improved on-field behaviour to avoid falling foul of harsh disciplinary measures expected at the upcoming tournament. With a global television audience smaller only than the Olympic Games and football World Cup, Stuart Lancaster and his squad anticipate strict punishments for any on-field indiscretions as World Rugby bosses attempt to limit potentially damaging publicity for the sport.

A colossal billboard poster of Carlos Tevez celebrating the goal that relegated Sheffield United from the Premier League has been put up just feet from Bramall Lane. The poster, commemorating Sky's 23 years of coverage, shows Tevez in his West Ham kit, arms aloft after scoring the decisive goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford on May 13 2007, that season's Premier League champions. David Beckham turned down the chance of joining his Manchester United Class of 92 pals at Salford City to work on winning an MLS franchise in America. Having vacated his role as England's national team manager in 2011, Martin Johnson has now tried his hand at acting alongside New Zealand's rugby team. Johnson, who lifted the World Cup as England captain in 2003, featured alongside All Blacks stars such as captain Richie McCaw and fly half Dan Carter in Air New Zealand's latest safety video, 'Men in Black Safety Defenders,' inspired by the Columbia Pictures global film franchise Men in Black. The 45-year-old former lock forward turned out as a horned, red-cloaked alien in the five minute promotional music video, as New Zealand winger Israel Dagg rapped alongside Australian Idol winner Stan Walker.

INTERVIEW BY LAWRENCE BOOTH: There's more steel to Jos Buttler than meets the eye. He has refused to let his first taste of Ashes success distract him from his lack of runs, and he knows - without being prompted - that England have never beaten Australia four times in a home summer. Yes, he's been pleased with his glovework, and he allows himself a grin when he recalls Stuart Broad's impromptu 'How you doing, Ashes winner?' after England went 3-1 up in Nottingham on Saturday. The implications of the question are yet to sink in. But, whatever you do, don't for a moment suggest Buttler is too nice to prosper at the highest level.

PAUL NEWMAN AT CANTERBURY: England's women will have to break their record run chase if they are to win the one-off Test at Canterbury and retain their iron-grip on the Ashes. A combination of the thunderous bowling of Katherine Brunt and a biblical storm that hit the St Lawrence Ground gave England a glimmer of hope of at least survival on the third day of a Test they cannot afford to lose. Yet by the close of a shortened penultimate day Australia, who will resume at 90 for four, led by 196 and will fancy themselves to extend their two-point lead in the Ashes points table to an insurmountable six by bowling England out.

CRAIG HOPE: When England regained The Ashes, Mark Wood took the winning wicket. The night before, Ashington-born paceman Wood spoke to 2005 Ashes hero Steve Harmison for advice. Harmison, though, was not at Trent Bridge on that glorious Saturday. The former England fast bowler was 160 miles away in Sunderland in a much less glamorous sporting role - manager of non-League Ashington. As Wood lapped up the glory, Harmison, who took 226 wickets in a seven-year Test career, was standing outside the dressing rooms of Washington FC, explaining to one of his players why he had been dropped for the season opener.
