It was previously reported that the star's family wanted him to return to the US for treatment after his stroke, but he subsequently suffered three heart attacks before he was due to leave the country.

Michael Jackson's father was fitted with a pacemaker during emergency surgery after the heart attacks.
Jackson's heart stopped beating for 10 seconds before he was revived by medical staff at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, TMZ reports, citing family sources and his publicist.
Jackson had been in intensive care in hospital since suffering a stroke a few days earlier, while in Brazil for his 87th birthday party.

The hospital put out a statement saying the talent manager was admitted on Sunday July 26 and was suffering from an irregular heartbeat.
Jackson missed his birthday party on the Saturday because he wasn't feeling well, but an organizer of the bash said a day later that the patriarch was doing well.
'He is perfectly conscious, he is talking perfectly well without any problems, he is completely dynamic,' Nogueira Fresco, one of the organizers of the party, told AP.
The talent manager, who guided his children to showbiz success as The Jackson 5, was taken to the Hospital in São Paulo after waking up feeling dizzy and without vision.

The stroke reportedly left him blind. It is currently unknown if Joe, will only be temporarily without his sight.
The stroke was caused by an artery behind the eye bursting, which also resulted in the loss of vision, Jackson's publicist said.
Jackson has had minor strokes in the past, including one in 2012. He also suffers from diabetes, and it is unknown if this was a factor in him suffering the stroke.
Tough love: Joe stands by his harsh parenting style, which he claims helped Michael and his other children achieve massive showbiz success
He had arrived in Brazil a few days before the incident and attended several events, including a visit to a soccer stadium, before falling ill.
On the Friday Jackson was pictured out with singer Angelina Stilitti, with the pair enjoying dinner at a local eatery at Sao Paulo.
He had been planning to officially celebrate his birthday two days later with a bash totaling up to $200,000, according to his website.

'Join me on the 26th of July to celebrate 87 full years on earth. The greatest adventure you can take on this world, is to live your life and enjoy the ride,' he said in an invite on his website.
The controversial music manager previously discussed his 'tough' parenting practices when he appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight in 2013.
Although many of his children have spoken out about what they claim to have been an emotionally and physically abusive upbringing, Jackson said he did right by his children.
He said: 'I'm glad I was tough, because look what I came out with. I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right.
'There's no such thing as beating a kid. You whip them or punish them over something they did and they will remember that.'
