Caitlyn Jenner's decision to speak openly about her transition has been praised by many as being a turning point for the transgender community, and the reality star is now often hailed as a 'spokesperson' for other trans people.

But, as a new video by Cut.com reveals, a number of transgender people are still incredibly apprehensive, concerned and even angry about the impact that 65-year-old Caitlyn's very-public transition has had, and will continue to have, on the community.

Speaking to Cut.com as part of its word association series 'One Word', a group of transgender people voiced their blunt and honest opinions about reality star Caitlyn, with their descriptions ranging from the happy and positive - 'goddess', 'brave' - to frustrated and angry - 'inept', 'tired'.

A number of the video's participants admit they are unsure how they really feel about Caitlyn; some feel that her public profile and ongoing reality series is only serving to trivialize the experience of so many other transgender people, while others express hope that her fame will eventually help to shine a much-needed light on the community.

'Privilege,' the first person responds when asked what the first word is that comes to mind when thinking about Caitlyn, before adding: 'But it's still a step forward nonetheless.'

'Affection,' another person says, before explaining that 'as far as a new influential voice, for me, as a person of gender nonconformity, I think she's welcome'.

One participant describes Caitlyn as a 'trendsetter', noting that she has helped to encourage more people to come out by helping to show that they don't have to 'be ashamed of who they are'.

Another uses Caitlyn's political views to describe her, labeling her as a 'Republican', before going on to say: 'Very controversial but I have to admire somebody who was willing to put a lot at stake to be their most authentic self.'

On the fence: This person describes Caitlyn as an 'ally', before going on to explain that being a transgender doesn't mean the reality star immediately understands what all other trans people have been through

Politics: One participant (pictured) says it is Caitlyn's presumed political status that first came to mind when hearing her name, describing her as a 'Republican', before adding: 'I have to admire her'

There are others, however, who confess they feel nothing but annoyance and irritation when it comes to Caitlyn, with one noting that her public transition has actually made people all the more ignorant about transgender people and their experiences.

'Ew, ew! No!' the participant responds as soon as Caitlyn's name is mentioned. 'If I have one more cis [non-transgender] person telling me how they understand us because they saw a short documentary about Caitlyn Jenner. Just no, get out of town.'

A number of the participants express concern about Caitlyn's wealth, explaining that they are worried other people might think that transitioning is that 'easy' and 'simple' for everyone.

'People just don't realize that it's not that easy,' one person explains. 'I know for me, I had to fight to get my surgery, and I didn't have that kind of money.

'So, you know, it came down to the point where I told my mom it was either the surgery or I would end my life because I couldn't live like this anymore.'

'Inept,' another participant says. 'And I think that she means well and I hope that with more time and more exposure to other trans people who don't have $100 million - like me, hi! Maybe some of their viewpoints will start to shift if hers does.'

Keeping it simple: Some one-word opinions voiced in the video included 'tired', 'powerful' and 'celebrity'

Different thought: The descriptions in the video range from the happy and positive - 'goddess', 'brave' - to frustrated and angry - 'inept', 'tired'

'It's not that easy for everyone': This person said Caitlyn's transition seemed easier than it had been for most trans people, adding, 'I know for me, I had to fight to get my surgery, and I didn't have that kind of money'

'It's a start,' one person responds. 'I think it's good for the general public to have someone that they can identify with. But I think we have a long way to go in our representation of trans people.'

One participant references Caitlyn's acceptance speech at the recent ESPY awards, where she was presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, praising the fact that she took the opportunity to draw attention to women like Laverne Cox and Janet Mock, 'other trans women of color who have been doing really difficult and important work for decades'.

There are also a few people featured in the clip who have nothing but positive things to say about Caitlyn, with one person hailing her as a 'goddess', before adding: 'She's just handled the whole thing so much better than I thought anyone coming out of the Kardashian family could.'

And then there are those who admit they aren't bothered either way, expressing the view that they are happy for Caitlyn, but that they don't want her transition to impact on their lives in any way.

'I love you Caitlyn, and I'm glad that you're doing you,' one person says, before adding: 'I also don't care.'
