She's known for her love of towering and often ostentatious footwear.

And it seemed that Lady Gaga's penchant for a heel came back to bite her in the foot on Wednesday evening, as she took an awkward tumble to the ground during a night out in West Hollywood.

The 29-year-old pop superstar had stepped out for dinner with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, and put on a typically glamorous display as the two emerged from the Pump Lounge.

The stylish Born This Way hitmaker went for all-out glamour during the evening, invoking an old Hollywood-era vibe with her oriental black and red patterned robe and 50’s inspired Retrosuperfuture cat eye shades.

Tied at her slender waistline, the star flashed her bare decolletage as she walked on the arm of her pal, while the long lengths of the garment hung dangerously low by her feet.

She completed her ravishing look with a pair of fluffy black peep toe heels and, while their size was relatively low for the singer - and nowhere near as tall as she often wears - she lost her footing and hit the ground.

Gaga fell to her knees next to the classic convertible Lincoln Continental, having failed to right herself before tripping off the steep kerb, having misjudged it.

Following her cringeworthy stumble in front of legions of fans who had gathered outside to catch a glimpse, she was helped up off the ground by a kind gent from her entourage.

However, ever the professional, Lady Gaga quickly brushed off the incident while styling it out, proceeding to pose for pictures and ham it up for the fans, flashing her huge smile and pouting accordingly.

The pretty pink shade on her rosebud lips perfectly matched the fuchsia flower in her hair for decoration, which added to her carefree attitude following the painful-looking fall.

Wearing a pair of red-rimmed retro shades, and with her peroxide blonde locks scraped back into a chic twisted chignon, she looked every inch the modern icon as she sat in the passenger side of the slick vintage motor.

Lisa, meanwhile, had opted for a smart androgynous look for the evening, teaming a shirt and pink tie with a flattering pair of wide-legged trousers.

The Vanderpump Rules star, 54, looked fresh and youthful as she emerged from the restaurant - which she owns - with her long brunette locks worn down.

She had only unlinked arms and hands with her singer friend for a few seconds as Gaga went to get into her car when she hit the deck.

But it was alls well that ended well as she slid neatly into the passenger seat of the car before kissing Lisa goodbye, and being driven off by her chauffeur.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga - who is engaged to actor Taylor Kinney - set tongues wagging that she might be embarking on a strict pre-wedding diet, as a diet beverage was seen resting in the back seat of her car.

Called 'Slim Master' and boasting detox-friendly incredients alkaline water, lemon, stevia and cayenne, it appears she is perhaps on a mission to lose weight before she walks down the aisle with her beau.

According to the Kreation brand's website, the drink boasts that it can help 'cut your sugar intake without sacrificing taste, and take your cleansing to the next level'. while also claiming it 'encourages the metabolism to work more efficiently'.

The star, who has publicly discussed her battle with weight before, showed off her slim and shapely legs and enviable figure as she emerged from the restaurant, hinting that she might have already lose some weight in recent weeks.

It's not known when she will be donning a wedding dress and tying the knot with her long-term partner, but the actor previously hinted that it is imminent.

Back in May, the handsome star - who is best known for his roles in Chicago Fire and Zero Dark Thirty - said it would be 'soon'.

When asked about the keenly-awaited marriage and if there was a date, he said: 'No, I'm laying low. We don't have a date yet, but soon.

'We'll probably keep it to ourselves,' he added mysteriously.

Gaga revealed that she started crying when Taylor proposed to her on Valentine's Day.

'First he gave me a Ring Pop,' the singer said. 'That was kind of amazing and I was crying, I was so excited. I said, 'Yes!' right away and then he pulled out the heart-shaped diamond. First it was candy. I was happy with the candy.'

Taylor proposed with a heart-shaped diamond ring designed by jeweller to the stars Lorraine Schwartz, which also featured a diamond studded setting and band with a message created in the precious stones.

Forgoing an engraved message Taylor had the letters T and S separated by a heart symbol put onto the band's base to represent Taylor loves Stefani, Gaga's real name.

The couple have been going strong since meeting on the set of her music video You And I, in which he starred in 2011.
