It's just 10 days since she and husband Narvel Blackstock announced they are ending their 26-year-marriage.

But Reba McEntire put her heartbreak behind her for a very special performance for a fan on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday.

The host welcomed the 60-year-old country star onto the stage during his regular Audience Suggestion Box skit after reading a card from a fan called Dan.

His moment: Lucky fan Dan was serenaded up close by Reba McEntire on The Late Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday evening.

He asked: 'Have you heard of close-up serenading? It’s when the singer serenades you with a song but stands only inches away from your face.

'Can you make that happen for me with Reba McEntire?'

Reba was happy to oblige lucky Dan, who was invited on stage and sat on a stool between the red-head and Jimmy as they sung a specially composed song called Just Wanna Spend This Moment.

The good-natured star put her arm around Dan's shoulders and pressed her nose to one side of his face as Jimmy cuddled up on the other side while they crooned to the delighted fan, reducing the audience to roars of laughter.

At one point Reba, who sparkled in a silver top under a black jacket paired with black tassled trousers and boots, ran her fingers through Dan's hair before turning her attentions to Jimmy's tresses.

The country legend also performed her new single, the poignantly named Until They Don’t Love You, which has special resonance given her split with Narvel, 58. The song is from her album Love Somebody, which was released in April.

The couple announced their split on August 3 in a statement from the Big Machine Label Group.

But they are going to continue their successful working relationship. Reba is represented by Narvel's management company that also lists Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson on its roster.

The statement read: 'Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.'

The multiplatinum artist's career has spanned music, television, film and theater.

She remains one of country music's most popular artists and is in the midst of a residency with Brooks & Dunn at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The couple has one son together, race car driver Shelby Blackstock. Narvel has three other children, including 38-year-old Brandon who is married to American Idol alum Clarkson.
