Kim Kardashian often finds herself at the centre of controversy - and her second pregnancy has been no different.

The 34-year-old reality TV star even went as far as to post a naked selfie to dispel online rumours that she is using a surrogate and captioned it with a long explanation of her transforming figure.

And it seems her somewhat alternative method of silencing the critics worked; the mother-of-one has been hailed 'inspirational' and 'sexy'.

Captioning the naked shot with a long essay, Kim wrote: 'First they say I'm too skinny so I have to be faking it...Now they say I'm too big so I have to be faking it...SMH!

'Some days I'm photographed before I eat & look smaller, some days I've just eaten & I look bigger. It's all a part of the process. I think you all know me well enough to know I would document the process if I got a surrogate.

'Everyone's body is different, every pregnancy is very different! I've learned to love my body at every stage! I'm going to get even bigger & that's beautiful too!'

And now, even Vogue.com's Patricia Garcia has applauded the star's efforts by dedicating an entire online feature to her.

Garcia writes: 'By putting her expecting body on full display - no filters included - with a pose reminiscent of that infamous white bathing suit belfie, she is not only silencing the body shamers from the past, she’s also sending out a message that it’s beautiful, hell even sexy, to be pregnant.'

And Garcia even said that it's time that we all 'take a cue from Kardashian West and start celebrating pregnancy in all its forms.'

Twitter users echoed Garcia's sentiments, hailing Kim 'inspirational' and a 'role model'.

Some mothers do, however, disagree. Journalist and mummy blogger, Lucy Tobin, said that whilst she's impressed with Kim's sexy selfie, she is by no means a role model.

'Well done to Kim for making pregnancy look sexy - she looks great and says she feels it too after a tough time when pregnant the first time around with North,' she said. 'But this doesn't make her a role model for pregnant women everywhere.

'Kim has contorted herself in a dimly lit room for a one-second selfie - this doesn't tell the tale of mornings spent draped over a loo being sick or the average pregnant woman's moans when nothing in your wardrobe fits (probably not a problem when you've got Balmain on speed-dial).

'Everyone experiences pregnancy differently. And please, lets not see a rush for replica naked bump shots!.'

Upfront Mama blogger, Nicola Bonn, agreed, adding: 'Saying Kim is an inspiration to pregnant women is like saying that Demi Moore is an inspiration to pensioners.

'She looks like some sort of sex goddess and is rocking her bump like it's a third breast. Show us your stretch marks, your face after morning sickness and your puffy feet Kim. Then I'll feel inspired!'.

Kim has revealed that she is enjoying better health after a difficult first pregnancy with North.

'I'm blessed to even be pregnant & even luckier to not have preeclampsia as far as I know, so I don't have the swelling issue this time! They also say your body carries a boy different than a girl!

She concluded: 'Whatever the case may be I'm grateful to God for this miracle & no matter what rumors or comments you throw my way this time they truly don't affect me!'

Kim announced her pregnancy at the end of May and revealed on Father's Day in June that she and husband Kanye West are expecting a boy.

The reality TV queen, who is believed to be due to give birth in December, has hired a nutritionist to help her stay healthy during pregnancy this time around.
