Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan enjoy romantic picnic in Central Park as the newlyweds continue their jaunt around USA

They spent just under a week trying to further their careers with a trip to Los Angeles.

But it seems Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have ditched the City of Angels for the bright lights of the Big Apple as the two enjoyed a romantic picnic in New York's Central Park on Wednesday.

Revelling in the city's sunshine, the loved-up duo sat on checked blankets against a backdrop that included a building called 'Essex House,' much to Essex boy Mark's delight.

'NYC Central Park picnic !! Look behind, always reppin the home county !!' the 28-year-old star captioned the snap.

Continuing what feels like a never-ending American holiday, the genetically-blessed pairing looked typically stylish for their day at one of the world's most famous parks.

Michelle, 28, looking chic in a white summer dress, which she teamed with an elegant up-do and over-sized sunglasses.

Her husband looked equally charming in a fitted pink T-shirt and denim shorts. He too shielded his eyes from the sun beneath a pair of large shades.

Speaking on her Hello! Magazine blog, Michelle revealed the couple are spending time in New York to visit some of Mark's relatives who reside in the city.

The former Coronation Street star also confessed that her first visit to Los Angeles has left her smitten with the city.

'I have to say that my ‘LA’ experience made me think I was in a film at times – jumping from cab to cab going from meeting to meeting… We also got to eat at some amazing restaurants,' the star enthused.

'We were in one [restaurant] and John Legend and his wife were there and then Sly Stallone walked in. Amazing place for people watching,' the actress gushed, referring to the evening the couple dined at the opulent Craig's restaurant.

It's believed the British TV stars - who tied the knot in May this year following two-and-a-half years of dating - were so impressed with their trip to Los Angeles that they are even contemplating a move there, a move they also hope will help fulfil their dream of cracking America.

'England will always be our home but both Michelle and I would love to spread our wings and work in LA,' Mark recently told the Sunday People.

The former TOWIE star also revealed he has had meetings with top networks including E, CBS and NBC, while his wife has met with top Hollywood agency Gersh, who have represented the likes of Kristen Stewart, Sharon Stone and Charlie Sheen.
