He's the Bachelor for good reason! Bec Chin gets enraged by Sam Wood after she finds out about the 'Groundhog date'... but he gets back in her good books by saying he's attracted to her

He has been accused of fibbing about only having met Bec Chin for around 'three minutes' in Bali 12 months ago prior to them appearing on The Bachelor Australia.

But that's about the amount of time it took for Sam Wood to get back into her good graces on Thursday's episode after he infuriated her earlier in the show.

Dietitian Bec was so enraged after discovering Sam, 35, had taken her and two other woman on the exact same date she couldn't look him in the eye - but he had her laughing again with a well-placed compliment.

The 28-year-old gave the Tasmanian hunk the cold shoulder at Thursday's cocktail party, prompting him to take her outside to mull things over.

'I do trust people too easily and I am guarded at times with certain things. As much as I want to open up I have all these things stopping me from doing that,' she admitted.

'I don't want to be hurt and I don't want to be vulnerable and I ultimately ended up in all those places, which kind of sucked.'

The situation became emotional for Bec, who struggled to hold back the tears.

However, Sam managed to diffuse the situation with a set of compliments, telling the brunette beauty:

'I genuinely had a good time. You challenge me, and I want to be challenged. I also am very attracted to you.'

Bec was impressed, saying in a piece-to-camera: 'that was a really big turning point for me. I saw how genuine and compassionate he can be.'

The two then returned to the party holding hands.

Sam had put Bec, Jacinda and Ebru through their paces by setting up separate one-on-one dates with the three of them riddled with the same roadblocks.

He would pick up the girls in a limo, but the driver would inform them that a tyre had gone flat and he needed their help to fix it.

Then, when they were at lunch, a actress posing as a waitress would flirt with Sam before serving them exotic food like fried crickets and barbecue chicken feet.

His plan was to see how the girls act 'when the chips are down,' and he was pleased with the results.

Unfortunately, Bec, Jacinda and Ebru were distraught when they learned that they had all gone on the exact same date with the same limo, food and waitress.

Bec and Sam have been at the centre of controversy recently, with pictures surfacing of the pair meeting in Bali 12 months ago - before they reportedly had a fling and their paths crossed once more on The Bachelor.

The handsome pair were said to have enjoyed a short-lived romance while on holiday in Indonesia last August, but Sam claims he now doesn't remember kissing the stunning dietitian.

Sam and Bec can be seen cosying up together in the snaps at clifftop Spanish restaurant, El Kabron, as they waited to watch the sun set together with friends.

But The Bachelor seems to have a touch of amnesia, telling Woman's Day on Monday that he 'didn't recognise' Bec when they were re-introduced on the reality dating show just seven months later in March, when filming first began.

'Bec and I crossed paths in Bali last year as I was leaving a restaurant and we had a three minute conversation,' he said. 'I hadn't seen her since. I didn't recognise her once on the show.'
