Supernatural star Misha Collins has insisted he is 'totally fine' after his co-star revealed he had been beaten up during a robbery.

Jim Beaver said the actor had been attacked outside a restaurant by three men in Minneapolis on Friday.

According to Beaver, who plays Bobby Singer on the show, his friend was left with 'some stitches and a fat lip' after the incident in a Facebook post that was later deleted.

Collins, who plays angel Castiel on the hit show, was quick to give his fans an update on his Twitter page on Saturday, though he did not confirm any specifics.

He said: 'Hey guys! Thanks for all the well-wishes! 'Just want u to know I've just got some minor scrapes. I'm totally fine! Love u guys.'

Collins, 41, was in the Midwest city to mix with fans of the Creation Entertainment's Supernatural Convention this weekend.

Beaver said: 'My buddy and Supernatural colleague Misha Collins was followed out of a restaurant in Minneapolis by three men last night and beaten and robbed,"

Supernatural is a science fiction drama about two brothers who seek out paranormal phenomena, and has ran since 2005 on The WB and then its successor The CW.

Collins was initially a recurring character on the fourth season of the show, and became a main cast member on series five.
