Dave Franco joins a host of NFL players and a T-Rex in crazy Bollywood action film-style ad for Madden 16 video game

Dave Franco has played some pretty crazy roles in the past - but this one might just take the biscuit.

The fake mini movie is actually an advertisement for video game Madden NFL 16, but it plays out like a Fast And The Furious-meets-Michael Bay Bollywood action film.

It tells the story of Blade Johnson, played by Franco, whose girlfriend Trish - played by WWE superstar AJ Lee - gets kidnapped by an evil villain who demands Franco play against him in the popular football game.

Blade and his inexplicably named friend Janet - played by Superbad's Christopher Mintz Plasse - then recruit a team of real life NFL stars to help get her back.

They include New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski as 'Half Top', presumably named after his tight white crop top; Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones as 'Trick Montalban'; Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown as 'Sticky Bun'; and Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan as ''Lil Pepper' - who Mintz Plasse is convinced is his father.

The final addition to the team is San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as 'Al Pacino from Scent Of A Woman' who, complete with dark glasses and blind cane, leaps out of a drifting convertible to deliver a deadpan 'hoo-hah'.

And that's when the movie really gets weird.

Interwoven with Bollywood dance numbers, explosions, football machine guns and Jones karate chopping a henchman exactly 38 times, the team do battle with an evil attack squad until in a dramatic twist, Coach 'Lil Pepper is 'assassinated' by a deadly thrown football to the chest.

The five-minute long clip is interspersed with press praise such as 'impossible to un-watch', 'Cancel awards season... we have a winner' and 'Dave Franco is probably the best actor ever'.

Franco admittedly is a tour-de-force, channeling Ben Stiller's headband and moustache combo from Dodgeball.

After a training montage of him relentlessly playing the game, Blade finally confronts the villainous boss - but the final matchup never happens because the Tyrannosaur Mintz Plasse brought along eats him.

It's not the first time Franco has advertised for Madden either; last year he and Kevin Hart performed an almost equally zany rap video to herald the arrival of Madden 15.
