Smiling again! Jenson Button and wife Jessica put on a happy display during Belgian Grand Prix as they continue to move on from terrifying burglary

Their world was turned upside down when thieves broke into their French holiday villa and stole £1 million worth of their belongings whilst they slept.

But it looks like Jenson Button and his wife Jessica are starting to move past the horrifying ordeal as they put on a happy display whilst leaving the paddocks during qualifying for the Formula One Grand Prix in Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday.

The married couple were seen laughing together in the sunshine as the 30-year-old model carried two boxes filled with food from the event.

The model, who was clad in a black jumper and black skinny jeans, looked positively beaming as she walked by her husband's side.

Honouring his team, Jenson rocked a white zip-up sweater emblazoned with the McLaren Honda logo during the stroll.

The Formula One ace recently opened up about the night his holiday villa in St Tropez was ransacked by robbers.

Speaking to The Mirror, the 35-year-old sports star dished: 'It's scary stuff. It's really not nice knowing someone was in your room going through your drawers 8 centimetres from your wife’s head.'

Jenson revealed he grew suspicious when he woke up and noticed that a drawer by their bed, which he believed he had closed, was open.

And his worst fears were confirmed when he went downstairs and noticed that the outside doors were open and parts of the house had been trashed.

The McLaren driver also addressed claims that the couple were gassed during the robbery, which French police had previously said was just an assumption made by the racing driver and his wife.

'We thought it was strange that nobody woke up and also one of the officers we spoke to said, "It’s possible you could have been gassed",' he explained.

'That’s where it came from. We are all here, safe and well, but it’s amazing that we did not realise it was happening. You never want anyone in your house that you haven’t invited, especially when you are asleep.'

Jenson also admitted that the terrifying experience, which saw thieves take Jessica Michibata's £250,000 engagement ring, has prompted him to up his security.

As well as Jessica's pricey engagement band, it's believed another £750,000 worth of items were taken in the break-in.

But the robbery wasn't Jenson's first dangerous encounter.

Five years ago, he was confronted by an armed gang in San Paulo, Brazil as he drove in a McLaren-supplied reinforced armoured vehicle back to his hotel with his father John, manager Richard Goddard, and trainer Mike Collier.

'We got in between six cars to get past and got away,' he told the Associated Press at the time.

'Looking behind there were two guys with a hand gun and one guy with what looked like a machine gun.

'It was a pretty scary situation - it's not a very comfortable feeling, not great.'
