STUART BROAD: A few people have said that my Trent Bridge session was the best they have seen in 50 years of cricket
- I was floating on adrenaline for a couple of days after the Trent Bridge Test
- After we won the Ashes I felt really exhausted and low and didn't leave home
- It shows how much emotional energy I'd used up in the week leading up to the Fourth Test
The week following the Trent Bridge Test was among the most surreal of my life. I was floating on adrenaline for a couple of days after we'd won the Fourth Test as I slowly started to take in the magnitude of what we'd achieved, but by Wednesday I just hit the wall, completely exhausted.
I can't remember ever feeling so tired, I just lay on the sofa and didn't leave the house. It was a strange feeling, we'd just won the Ashes and I'd produced the best spell of bowling in my life, but I felt really exhausted and low.
I guess it shows how much emotional energy I'd used up in the week leading up to Trent Bridge and then by playing in the Test itself.

It took me a couple of days to get back to my normal self and it has been fantastic being out and about, speaking to people who watched the Trent Bridge Test and my spell on the first morning.
A few people have said it was the best session they have seen in 50 years of cricket and it's great to know so many people got so much enjoyment out of seeing us win.
Another friend of mine sent me a lovely email saying he'd watched the morning session with his dad, who is in hospital with cancer.
He said for a couple of hours everyone on the ward was transfixed by the cricket on television and how the mood on the whole ward was lifted by our performance.
It's pretty special to think we were able to captivate the country with our Fourth Test display
It's pretty special to think we were able to do that. The boys were obviously buoyant when we met up again at the start of this week but it became clear fairly early on that Jimmy (Anderson) was going to be struggling with the side strain he picked up at Edgbaston.
The medical team quite rightly gave Jimmy every chance to play in this final Test but he never got anywhere near full throttle in the nets and it was definitely the right call to get him fit and firing for what is going to be a tough tour against a very good Pakistan side in the UAE.
I know how gutted Jimmy was to miss another Test but deep down I'm sure he knows it was the right call.

People have asked if it was the right decision for Cooky to put Australia in on the first morning, but I thought we should have batted at Trent Bridge so what would I know!
As a bowling unit we were very keen to get back into the Aussie top order again but we were a bit surprised by the way the ball stuck in the pitch a bit from the taller bowlers on that first day.
Cooky has made some brilliant calls during this series, including declaring before lunch on the day two at Trent Bridge, and his captaincy has been one of the main reasons we'll finish this series as winners — regardless of the outcome of this Test.
