Usain Bolt is preparing for a heavyweight showdown with Justin Gatlin at the World Athletics Championships and is thousands of miles from home... but that didn't stop him from falling victim to a Jamaican prank in Beijing.

The 29-year-old will go head to head with the two-time drug cheat over 100 metres this weekend at the Bird's Nest stadium, the scene of his first triple Olympic triumph seven years ago.

But on his birthday, Bolt was given a 'flouring' in China by members of the his country's youth team, a Jamaican tradition.

He posted pictures of him covered in flour on Facebook: 'Ni Hao (sic) from Beijing-China on my Birthday... My Jamaican peeps you understand this flouring tradition #GiveThanks #Blessed.'

The tradition started as a schoolboy prank but has spread like wildfire in the Caribbean. Loved ones spend days devising cunning ways to throw flour on the birthday boy or girl.

Bolt insists he is back to his best ahead of his 100m, 200m and 4x100m jaunts.

The controversial American dominates the world rankings, boasting a best of 9.74 seconds this year, but Bolt dispelled any fitness concerns with a return to form at the Anniversary Games in London and revealed training since that meeting in late July could not have gone better.

'My coach (Glen Mills) is happy, that's the key thing,' said the world-record holder.

'When he's happy I always know I'm in good nick. I'm good to go.

'I'm at my best, that's all I can say. I'm in great form, I'm happy with where I'm at. My start has come together at the right time.'
