Tottenham Hotspur's five new signings unveiled at White Hart Lane, but will they fare better than the 'Bale money seven'?

The famous picture of Tottenham Hotspur's seven summer signings from 2013 will live long in the memory of the club's supporters.

But not for the right reasons. Spurs spent over £100million on rebuilding their squad following the £86m sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, and the players coming into the club brought much excitement among fans who expected the new faces to propel them into the top four.

Instead the club sacked their manager, Andre Villas-Boas, before Christmas following terrible results and the majority of the signings turned into massive busts for the club.

Fast forward to 2015 and Spurs appear to be tempting fate again as Mauricio Pochettino's five new arrivals this summer all posed together before the club's first home game of the season against Stoke City.

Newest arrival Clinton N'Jie was unveiled at White Hart Lane and stood holding a Spurs shirt with fellow new recruits Kieran Tripper, Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer before the 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

The north London side haven't got off to the best of starts, as they allowed Stoke to come from 2-0 down to rescue a draw, leaving Spurs with just one point after two games following a 1-0 defeat by Manchester United on the opening day

TOTTENHAM'S SUMMER SIGNINGS

Kevin Wimmer (Cologne) £4.3m

Kieran Trippier (Burnley £3.5m

Toby Alderweireld (Atletico) £11.5m

Clinton N'Jie (Lyon) £10m

Only one of the club's new signings have played in both matches though with Alderweireld an ever-present, while Alli, who agreed a move from MK Dons in February before finally arriving in the summer, played 13 minutes in the opening day defeat by Manchester United.

Defenders Wimmer and Trippier are yet to make their debuts along with N'Jie, and fans at the very least will hope they make a bigger (and better) impact than the majority of the Bale money flops.

While Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli have impressed (with the jury still being out on Erik Lamela) the likes of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches have all been moved on following disastrous spells at White Hart Lane.
