Good Dogg! Snoop leads the way as celebrities turn out for charity flag football game in Los Angeles

He shot to fame rapping about smoking drugs and taking on rival gang members.

But Snoop Dogg once again showed his softer side as he appeared at a charity football match in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The hip hop legend, who came out the closet as a Price Is Right fanatic back in 2012, looked thrilled to be at the event as he stood on the pre-game red carpet.

Snoop, 43, was looking in good shape for his age in an sports shirt, shorts and trainers at the Athletes vs. Cancer Celebrity Flag Football Game.

He was joined on the carpet by excited Los Angeles Clippers' star Matt Barnes, who is the president and chairman of the charity.

The NBA star started the fund in memory of his mother Ann Catherine Barnes, who passed away soon after being diagnosed with four types of cancer in 2007.

Other stars at the event included Kim Kardashian's homemade pornography co-star Ray J, Karrueche Tran and Chantel Jeffries. 

Meanwhile it emerged earlier this month Snoop's athlete son Cordell Broadus, who was listed as a four-star recruit as a wide receiver, has quit the UCLA football team.

In a statement head coach Jim Mora said: 'Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life - in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions

'Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.'

Snoop, born Calvin Broadus Jr, is a massive football fan, and is a big advocate of using sport to fuel societal change.

He started his own youth football league in Los Angeles in 2005, and his boy Cordell was one of 20 players this year who came through the Snoop Youth Football League system who won spots on major college football programs.
