Moroccan gunman Ayoub El Khazzani was flanked by four armed police officers in bulletproof vests and balaclavas as he was escorted into the Paris courthouse wearing prison scrubs. Justin Wilson, 37, suffered a head injury on Sunday after debris broke off Sage Karam's car when he spun into the wall during the closing laps of the penultimate race in the IndyCar Series. The British former Formula One driver was swarmed by the safety crew after he was struck in the head and his car veered left and directly into an interior wall at the raceway in Pennsylvania. He went into a coma after the crash and died on Monday evening. He is pictured with his wife Julia and their two daughters, main, and inset his car can be seen veering off course.

Bethany Butzer (pictured left and right), who was studying the benefits of yoga for children and teens for Harvard, left her job at the university's medical school and went to a 130-square-foot cabin near Manitoulin Island. Butzer, 35, spent the summer living at the log cabin (inset) near Willisville, Ontario, which was only accessible by boat, with her husband and she said she was 'actually amazed at how content I became'. She came to the cabin in the woods with only two bags of clothes after selling nearly all of her possessions and Butzer picked blueberries, dodged bears and watched chipmunks play for hours after she arrived.

ISIS thugs used dynamite to destroy the temple of Baalshamin and filmed themselves laying out explosives, detonating them and reducing the archaeological wonder to a pile of rubble. The beautifully preserved temple had stood for nearly 2,000 years and its destruction has been described as an 'immense loss for the Syrian people and for humanity' by the UN's cultural watchdog Unesco.

In a video posted on her YouTube channel, Agnes Hedengård, 19, from Arvika, in south-east Sweden has revealed that she is struggling to get work due to her size, forcing her to leave full-time modelling after five years. The teenager describes how, even though she has a Body Mass Index of just 17.5, she is being told to 'get into shape' by agencies and clients.

One man's personal snapshots from 1967 offer a truly fascinating glimpse into what it was like to be a tourist in New York City before Madison Square Garden and the Twin Towers even existed. Josh Burdick, 42, shared the vintage pictures, which his dad Cecil, 80, took before he was born. The photos feature the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Empire State Building when it was still the tallest in the world.

Joseph Dupuis, (inset left) 30, has decided to sell the beautiful dream home (right) he built outside Ottawa he built for $20,000 out of shipping containers for $58,000 after it became an Internet sensation. The house is powered by a series of solar panel (left) that cost an additional $25,000 to build, though the home's sustainable style meant that Dupuis's most expensive bill each month he was living there was his phone bill. The entrepreneur has started a business since his creation became widely known, and says he the home is portable for buyers who want to move it elsewhere.

Mike and Whitney Lash had just returned to their Atlanta home with their two young children when the men knocked on their door with 'car troubles'. Little did they know what was to come. 'I had a feeling that it was an excuse and we were about to be robbed. Right about that moment I saw them pull the gun on Mike,' Mrs Lash told ABC News. Mr Lash was shot three times by the four robbers, who burst into the house and detained the family as they stole items from the house. The men left, and Mr Lash was taken to hospital. Mrs Lash and the children were not injured. Police have since arrested Brandon Jerome Smith, 18, in relation to the crime.

Father Mikki Willis of Ojai, California, was exchanging a gift with his son at a toy store when four-year-old Azai decided he wanted a Little Mermaid Princess Ariel doll. Photographer Clement Kiragu Mwangi captured the moment the male crocodile approach the group of wildebeests as they struggled to make their way up the side of the river bank in Kenya. In the blink of an eye, the 16ft reptile lurches out of the water and grabs a young wildebeest in its jaws (main and inset) before drowning its prey in the water. When Cassidy Williams got the heartbreaking diagnosis her childhood pet was battling terminal bone cancer, she had to find a way to get him from Utah to her wedding in Oregon. Williams and her family decided that her dad could cancel his flight to Manzanita and drive instead, with him and Dood making the 13-hour journey. Williams said the wedding to her fiance Matthijs was perfect and Dood, after 'living in a bubble' his whole life, got to see the water for the first time before the cancer takes him.

The nine-week-old cub named Nikai is currently being raised by The Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, New York as an ambassador animal, raising awareness for its kind.
