Revealed: Brian Austin Green likely to receive spousal support from Megan Fox because 'vertigo caused by December car accident means he can't work'

It has been claimed that actor Brian Austin Green will ‘almost certainly’ get spousal support from his estranged wife Megan Fox when the couple divorce.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star has not been working much since he was involved in a serious car accident last December, and TMZ reports this will be a major factor when it comes to spousal support.

Megan and Brian were hit by a drunk driver in a head-on collision and while the pair were not injured, it has been claimed that the incident triggered a medical condition called Vertigo.

While Vertigo is a symptom rather than an actual condition itself, it has a major impact on one’s balance creating the sensation that the person, or the environment around them, is moving or spinning.

A source told the publication that Brian often can’t even get out of bed and so has not been to work since the accident meaning there will be a large disparity between how much the pair earn.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Brian Austin Green for comment.

It was reported last week that Megan filed for divorce from the Anger Management star after five years of marriage.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their two sons, Noah, two, and Bodhi, 18 months.

According to court documents, the 29-year-old beauty has hired celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her and she cites 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the petition.

Megan also lists June 15, 2015 as the official date of their separation despite recent speculation they quietly split six months ago.

Sources told gossip website TMZ.com that the duo, who started dating in 2004, did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in Hawaii in 2010, so they are expected to equally divide their assets.

Insiders believe the 'Transformers' star is also likely to end up paying Brian, 42, spousal support because she earns more money.

However, their split is said to be 'very amicable' and they are still living in the same house in Los Angeles.

Another source recently claimed the duo could reconcile in the future because they still 'love each other very much.'

The friend added: 'Anything could happen in the future, but for now they've decided it's best to take some time apart.'

The former couple were in the midst of renovating their $5 million home in Camarillo, and even documented the planning of the construction on Bravo's Flipping Out.

While Brian was seen discussing the project with Jeff Lewis, Megan did not appear behind the lens.

Brian seemed passionate about renovating one of their properties. He even wanted a large basketball court constructed with a Lakers logo in the middle.

However, when Jeff told Brian he would be informing Megan about the Lakers decor, the actor reacted negatively.

'What the f**k man!?' he replied.

But suddenly it was revealed that the two would sell the house, which was most likely an early sign that they were on the outs.

Brian revealed to Jeff that he had decided to put the property on the market when Jeff informed him of flooding issues on the property.

Meanwhile, a source told People that the former couple conflicted over Megan's work-life balance.

'Megan is young and hot and sought after for work, and she is eager to move ahead in her career..Brian wants more of her time than she can allow,' the source said.

Adding: 'She was overwhelmed with the children and her husband's expectations, which got in the way of work responsibilities...They had many disagreements and arguments about her time at home, which led to problems.'
