Rosie O'Donnell looked strained as she emerged from her home on Monday, a day after the death of her father.

The actress and former The View co-host carried paperwork as she walked to her car, following the death from cancer of Irish-born Edward Joseph O'Donnell.

The loss of the 81-year-old couldn't have happened at a worse time for Rosie, whose teen daughter went missing last week.

Chelsea, 17, was eventually found at the home of a convicted heroin dealer who she had met on Tinder.

On Monday it emerged that Steve Sheerer, 25, had sent the teen a nude picture - found when police examined her phone with her mother's permission.

Prosecutors state Sheerer allegedly knowingly distributed 'a nude photo over the internet.'

Sheerer was charged last week with third degree endangering a child and third degree distribution of obscenity to a minor. Each charge carries a five-year jail term.

Sheerer's cash bail has been set at $40,000, and he is banned from contacting the O'Donnell family.

Chelsea was the subject of a week-long search and emotional appeals from her famous mother, Rosie, after she disappeared from home in Nyack, New York.

When police reached Sheerer's property, she tried to hide in an attic with her puppy Bear.

Sheerer first told officers she was not inside, but they entered the property to search for the teen.

Chelsea, who went missing on August 11, spent the first few days in New York City before heading to Sheerer's home.

Rosie had been engaged in talks with 'associates ' of her adopted daughter for five days before calling in police on Sunday.

The TV comic sent messages to her daughter Chelsea through intermediaries urging her to come back.

It was only on August 16 that she called in police and reported the girl missing from her home in Nyack, New York.

O'Donnell then publicly appealed for help to find her adopted daughter - and within hours she was found safe and well.

New Jersey court records show Sheerer, has a conviction for possessing controlled dangerous substances and was once arrested for child endangerment.

He was arrested with a woman who had her two children, aged one and three, with her, in a car which had heroin and marijuana in it.

Chelsea is the second of Rosie's five children. O'Donnell and police described her as 17, but her birth mother says that she is 18, and that her birthday had been changed when she was adopted.

Her son Parker was adopted in 1995, followed by Chelsea in 1997.

Rosie started dating her first wife Kelli Carpenter when Chelsea was a baby and they adopted son Blake in 1999.

In February of 2002, Rosie came out as a lesbian during an appearance at Caroline's Comedy Club in New York City.

Kelli gave birth to daughter Vivienne in November of 2002 via artificial insemination.

They were married in 2004 after San Francisco legalized gay marriage and later split in 2007, sharing custody of all four children.

In early 2010 Rosie began dating Tracy Kachtick-Anders, an artist who had six children of her own.

The families joined with Tracy moving into a home next door to Rosie, but the pair split just over a year later.

Rosie went on to marry Michelle Rounds in 2012 and they adopted a baby girl Dakota in January 2013. Dakota is now part of a custody battle as the pair split early this year.

In the meantime Kelli got remarried to Anne Steele, a cabaret singer, in 2013.

Kelli and Anne have both also posted messages of support for Chelsea on social media.
