Lindsay Lohan's clashes with British comedian at luxury Florence wedding after threatening to upstage the bride in white gown and CROWN

Since she graced the big screen as a bright-eyed 11-year-old in Disney’s remake of The Parent Trap nearly two decades ago, Lindsay Lohan has become used to being the centre of attention.

So the poor ducky might have got a shock after being accused of upstaging the bride while attending a wedding in Italy over the weekend.

Troubled actress Lindsay, who recently relocated from Los Angeles to London in a bid to boost her stagnating career, was in Florence on Saturday to witness the nuptials of her multi-millionaire friend, Bedales-educated entrepreneur Justin Etzin, 38, and his Latvian underwear model fiancee Lana Zakocela, 27.

While the dress code stipulated black tie and evening dress, 29-year-old Lohan arrived in a dropped-waist, floor-length ivory gown, which she appeared to claim had once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, and which featured an embroidered bodice and attention-grabbing thigh-high split. Lohan accessorised the outfit with a bridal-style headpiece.

The actress, who once played Taylor in a U.S. television movie, Liz & Dick, published a snap of herself on Instagram, prompting dozens of comments from fans accusing her of upstaging the bride. ‘You should know better than to wear a white dress to a wedding,’ chastised one.

Another wrote: ‘How you gonna show up in a crown and white dress to someone’s wedding? I would have killed you.’ ‘That dress for a wedding?! Is it you who is getting married? Otherwise is not appropriate at all,’ added another critic.

Lohan, who has been to rehab six times, then proceeded to get into a scrap with comedian Rory Bremner — who compered the event — after she accused him of making a ‘cheap-shot joke’ at her expense in front of society guests including Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough’s half-brother.

‘Rory Bremner seems to be good at killing the twilight on a beautiful evening for my friend Justin Etzin’s wedding,’ she grumbled online.

However, impressionist Rory was unapologetic. ‘I was welcoming the guests in Latvian and pretended to mix up her name with the Latvian for “welcome”, which is “laipni ludzam”,’ he tells me. ‘She might not have got it, to be fair. Oops.’

Let’s hope Etzin, who used to organise parties for well-heeled teenagers, attended by Prince William, was not too embarrassed by the contretemps.

Beckham's a box office draw

David Beckham has a cameo in Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming film Knights Of The Round-table: King Arthur, but there is speculation that his role will be expanded.

‘Beckham spent three days filming in Snowdonia, but Guy is considering having him back for reshoots and increasing his screen time,’ says a source.

‘Guy now regrets not giving Becks more of a role in recent spy remake The Man From U.N.C.L.E. as he’s an international box office draw.’ The Man From U.N.C.L.E remake is one of the biggest flops of the summer.

Beckham’s only two words in that film as a KGB technocrat — ‘Apologies Comrade’ — might serve as a suitable epitaph from Ritchie for how the film turned out.

Even celebrity cooks can transgress the bounds of good taste. Marco Pierre White — who at 33 became the youngest chef ever to be awarded three Michelin stars — confesses the occasional McDonald’s has passed his lips.

‘Yes, I have, when I’m driving from the South Coast back to London with my young daughter and there’s a traffic jam. I don’t think there’s anything wrong in pulling into McDonald’s for six chicken McNuggets and a milkshake. It’s fine.’

Ooh la la!

All grown up, Sheen's little Lily

Despite his uncanny knack for playing Tony Blair, Welsh actor Michael Sheen has stepped out with a string of beauties, including former partner Kate Beckinsale, Hollywood actress Rachel McAdams and, more recently, controversial U.S. comedienne Sarah Silverman.

But it was quite another young lovely Sheen had on his arm at a recent family wedding in Powys: his 16-year-old daughter Lily.

Lily, a product of Sheen’s eight year relationship with Beckinsale, which ended in 2003, has grown up in Los Angeles but looked entirely at ease in the Welsh countryside, posing alongside her father in a strapless mint dress and a pair of high heels.

The proud Welshman reportedly still makes ‘regular trips’ back to his hometown.

Surely it can’t be too long before Lily is the toast of the valleys?

Joan's phone moan

Dame Joan Collins has been criticising people for recording weddings on their smartphones.

‘Watching my wonderful wedding video from 2002,’ she says, referring to her nuptials to her fifth husband, toyboy Percy Gibson, who is 32 years her junior, ‘not one guest using a smartphone! Not like today.’

Surely Dame Joan, 82, can’t have forgotten that she was paid £375,000 by a society magazine for the exclusive pictures to her wedding?

If any guest had dared take a picture of the proceedings, it would have scuppered her lucrative deal.
