'The only time in 20 years she's been wrong!' Hugh Jackman says Deborra-Lee Furness didn't want him to play Wolverine ...as he announces his new stage show

They are one of the strongest couples in Hollywood.

But on Monday Hugh Jackman revealed he and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness had a disagreement when he signed up for the role of X-Men's Wolverine in 2000.

'Deb said "you shouldn't do it," he told A Current Affair's Tracy Grimshaw. 'She thought it was a terrible idea doing Wolverine.'

'The only time in 20 years she has been wrong,' he continued before breaking into a laugh.  'She is always right.'

The couple, who are parents to children Oscar and Ava, are in Australia to announce Hugh's upcoming one-man stage tour, Broadway To Oz, after the actor's years of performing in America.

'It's an arena spectacular,' he told the crowd at a press conference. 

'It's very self-indulgent and it's about everything I love and it's about me.'

'This is a little more relaxed. I obviously do songs in character but the rest of the time is me talking as myself.

'I still want to keep it intimate...I do want all 10,000 people to have the chance to get to know me.'

The Australian hunk explained that he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon and that performing his stage shows helps him keep his figure in great form.

'It shouldn't be easy, it should be hard. You should give it everything, you should spill blood. You should feel like there is nothing else you could have done and I feel in a way the audience want that,' he said.

'If anyone wants to lose some weight just do a one man show, it's pretty simple.'

While appearing on Channel Nine's Today show on Tuesday, Hugh joked about selling his sweating shirt following his performance.

'I might do that...that's a great idea,' he said to entertainment reporter Richard Wilkinson before saying he may wear one of Brad Pitt's shirts and then auction it off because 'that would get a lot more money.'

Hugh's Broadway To Oz showcase will arrive in Melbourne on November 24 and 25 and Sydney on November 30 and December 1.

The show will then move to Brisbane (December 5 and 6) and Adelaide (December 10), before finishing in Perth on December 15.
