He's no Macho Man! Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart is slammed by John Cena on WWE Raw for costing him title match

He caused an upset by interfering in a title match that cost John Cena his WWE United States championship.

And Jon Stewart paid the price when the enraged deposed grapple king picked him up and gave him an 'attitude adjustment' slam into the canvas on the wrestling franchise's Raw show on Monday night.

The former Daily Show host had revealed to the furious crowd beforehand he had been attempting to prevent the beefcake from equalling the record mark for title wins.

The 52-year-old said: 'It was because in my heart I could not let John Cena tie the great Ric Flair for 16 championships.

'Because in my mind the champ is Flair. Not on my watch, wasn't going to let it happen.'

Of course this was the cue for the 66-year-old grapple legend to appear, and he shocked Jon by telling him: 'I appreciate what you were thinking last night but to be honest with you I was pulling for John Cena.'

But worse was to come, for this paved the way for the 38-year-old Cena himself to appear, and after some more gum-flapping he told the television star 'I'm just gonna do, what I gotta do.'

The muscleman then hoisted him onto his shoulders and slammed him to the floor, before walking off in disgust.

Afterwards a painful looking Jon was pictured backstage sitting with his son Nathan as 'medical staff' made sure he was not injured.

Earlier in the day Jon had been spotted recovering from his antics at SummerSlam by going for a stroll with his son Nathan in New York.

The former Daily Show host looked full of beans as he sauntered around the big apple on a warm summer's day.

Jon was looking good for his age in a black T-shirt, jeans and leather boots.

His 11-year-old son meanwhile went for a trendy T-shirt, shorts and flip flops look.

Jon caused outrage at Summerslam on Sunday night, his first public appearance since leaving as host of Comedy Central's Daily Show, by interfering in the evening's biggest event.

He sprang into the ring when both Cena and WWE heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, who he previously feuded with, were lying on their backs in agony.

It initially appeared he was going to attack his old enemy with a metal chair, before he changed his mind and smacked the WWE US champion in the gut instead.

The assault proved decisive, and Cena went on to lose his title.

As it was a special Winner Takes All match he is now WWE’s US and World Heavyweight Champion.

It was Jon's first public outing since his final Daily Show on August 6, which finished a celebrated run that lasted almost 16 years.
