Manchester City new boy Nicolas Otamendi bumps into Manchester United keeper and Argentina pal Sergio Romero out dining... with unsettled David de Gea down the road

Nicolas Otamendi is beginning to settle into life as a Manchester City player and where better to start then footballers' favourite haunt, San Carlo.

The Argentinian completed his £32million move from Valencia on Thursday and spent the evening at the popular Italian restaurant.

The defender also bumped into fellow international Sergio Romero, who plays for bitter rivals Manchester United, while he was out with his family.

The goalkeeper has recently heaped praise on Otamendi following his move and believes he's a top acquisition for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

'He is a great defender, but above all he is a great person,' the 28-year-old said. 'That's a superior value to what somebody can be as a footballer. As a person, he is really great.'

The 27-year-old was previously a target for United but instead he'll be lining up for the blue side of Manchester.

And Otamendi expressed his delight following the 'dream' move to the Etihad Stadium and is aiming to win the many Premier League titles.

He told the City website: 'I am here to give my best, to fight game by game and push City to the highest peaks for as long as possible, and I wish we will be able to win several cups and titles.

'That's the most important. To be here inside a club that looks so wonderful from the outside is a dream.'

The Argentinian pair were not far from United goalkeeper David de Gea, who was pictured heading into the Spinningfields area of Manchester.

The Spain international hasn't featured for United so far this season and has watched from the stands, with Romero deputising in goal.

It appears unlikely that Otamendi and De Gea will go head-to-head in the Premier League, with Real still keen on a deal to bring the stopper back to Madrid.

Otamendi's arrival sparked excitement from the City faithful and boss Manuel Pellegrini praised his big-money signing, as they took their summer spending over the £100m mark.

The Chilean said: 'Nicolas Otamendi was arguably the best defender in La Liga last season and so naturally I'm delighted to have added a player of his quality.

'He is an established international for one of the best nations in world football and I have no doubt that he has the right mentality to fit into a squad where he will find many familiar faces, including Eliaquim and Fernando who he played alongside in Portugal.'
