Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda filed his nomination papers on Saturday for re-contesting as a Congress candidate from the Parliamentary segment in Haryana.

"I filed my papers only after discussing with my supporters yesterday. I regret that I will not be campaigning actively due to health issues. My dedicated supporters and wellwishers will carry out the campaign on my behalf," Deepender said.

Currently undergoing treatment at the AIIMS for slipped disc, Deepender has been advised complete bed rest by the doctors attending him.

He, meanwhile, is in touch with his supporters via the Internet.

Earlier, in the day, the Congress leader took blessings of his elders, including his father and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, before filing his nomination papers.

"Development will be the main issue of my election campaign.

Keeping in view the efforts I made for development of the constituency, I expect members of all communities will extend their co-operation," Deepinder said.

Hooda, who accompanied Deepinder, claimed that the public opinion was in favour of the Congress.
