Taylor Swift hits a high note in a sequined crop top and trousers as she brings her Bad Blood glam squad to the MTV Video Music Awards

There was no shortage of glamour on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Sunday.

And Taylor Swift brought it in spades when she arrived with her famous girl squad, posing with pals including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid.

The 25-year-old, who had the most nominations for the evening, certainly went for a striking look in a gold, silver and bronze houndstooth crop top and matching trousers by Ashish, which were both covered in sequins.

Friends like these: Taylor Swift was joined by some of the stars of her Bad Blood music video at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday

Taylor left her stomach on show in the two-piece outfit, which she paired with metallic Christian Louboutin heels.

The pop star finished off her look with a generous application of winged eyeliner, and slicked back her dark blonde hair.

Taylor was also joined by model pals Lily Aldridge and Martha Hunt, along with Hailee Steinfeld, Mariska Hargitay and Serayah.

The singer brought all of her famous friends on stage after taking home the night's top honour, Video Of The Year, for Bad Blood. She also won Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for Blank Space.

Make a style statement in sequins like Taylor Swift

Well, we can hardly accuse Taylor Swift of not making an effort can we? Ever the shy and retiring wallflower (!) Ms Swift made sure all eyes were on her for the VMA's as she posed up a storm in this dazzling sequinned two-piece by Ashish.

It comes as no surprise to us, seeing as Ashish Gupta is nicknamed the 'king of sequins' and is well known for transforming sportswear with high-octane embellishments.

We love the houndstooth print and opulence of the all-over sequins of these co-ordinates, while the jogger style trousers keep the look young and fun.

And while we're not sure if we have the fashion chops to pull off the whole look, we always have time for a sequinned crop top here at Fashion Finder! Perfect for adding a little dose of festivity to any outfit, a bejeweled top with look fabulous styled with a simple midi skirt and heels.

Feeling suitably inspired? We've lined up some sizzling lookalikes in our edit below to help you get that Taylor glow. Go for a sweatshirt style at Joa or full-on embellishment with this Parker offering.

The ceremony held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles made room for some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Two years after making headlines for twerking with Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus returned to the awards ceremony, this time as host.

And unsurprisingly, she made sure to shock on the red carpet.

Her outfit could hardly be called that - it consisted of silver straps barely covering her breasts and a few crystals worn as a skirt. She also sported thigh high silver boots.

Also taking the notion of ‘less is more’ very literally was Nicki Minaj, who showed off her extremely ample assets in a gold LaBourjoisie gown that plunged all the way to her belly button.

Kim Kardashian also went for a racy look in the form of floor-length olive-coloured gown with a lace-up plunging neckline and split up the front.

The pregnant 34-year-old was there to support husband Kanye West, who was being presented with the Video Vanguard Award during the ceremony.

Kim’s sisters Kourtney and Kylie were also in attendance, as was mom Kris Jenner, joined by boyfriend Kanye West.

Kylie picked a super-short beige knitted Balmain mini-dress and matching heels, and showed off a fringed hairdo.

Meanwhile Kourtney wore a bright pink Seventies style jumpsuit, and Kris picked a long black gown.

And 12 years on from her still infamous kiss with Madonna at the 2003 VMAs, Britney Spears showed she's still got it as she looked fantastic in an unforgiving glittering gold and silver mini-dress.

Also turning heads on the red carpet was Rita Ora, putting plenty of her ample cleavage on show in an extremely low-cut black gown with feathered skirt.

FKA Twigs - the fiancee of Robert Pattinson - followed suit in a skimpy black dress, while Chrissy Teigen showed sideboob in a Marchesa number with sheer panels as she joined husband John Legend.

Demi Lovato, who was among the performers, picked a skintight pink Nicolas Jebran frock, while Vanessa Hudgens turned every head when she arrived in a dazzling pink gown with plunging neckline.

The Naeem Khan dress was embellished with a delicate design and a few sequins which caught the light as the 26-year-old twirled for the cameras.

Vanessa, joined by her younger sister Stella, added to the boho feel of her look with long hair extensions, and lots of jewellery.

Taylor's squad made sure she was the centre of attention, but still dressed to impress. Selena Gomez played it safe - but still looked amazing - in a figure-hugging black Calvin Klein maxi dress which was flecked with glitter.

Gigi Hadid left her slender legs on show in a cutaway yellow gown by Emilia Wickstead, and Cara Delevingne picked a fringed black Saint Laurent mini-dress adorned with stars.

Lily Aldridge and fellow former Victoria's Secret Angel Karlie Kloss both picked long gowns, and Hailee Steinfeld made an impression in a white Stella McCartney jumpsuit.

Kelly Osbourne, who was acting as red carpet host for the evening, kept things simple so as to let the nominees shine.

The 30-year-old picked a double-breasted black pinstripe jumpsuit, with short sleeves and billowing trousers, along with metallic gold pointed heels.

She finished off her low-key look with false eyelashes, a slick of bright red lipstick and curled her lavender hair.

With three Moonman trophies to take home, Taylor was the big winner of the evening.

Nicki Minaj took home the Best Hip Hop Video award for Anaconda, but not before calling out Miley for saying she shouldn't have been so angry about missing out on a Video Of The Year nod.
