Pretty FIERCE in pink! Demi Lovato takes the plunge in a skintight gown at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards

While it was one of the most star-studded nights in music, Demi Lovato was impossible to ignore on the red carpet.

The 23-year-old singer stunned in a delicate pink dress with a plunging neckline at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Despite the pretty pink tone of her dress, her overall appearance was fierce with slicked back hair as she showcased her figure in the skintight garment.

Demi's hair was kept to a minimalistic look, perhaps meant to disappear when compared to the dramatic dress.

That gown has made out of a shiny and closely fitted fabric that combined a mesh base with tiled pieces of pink.

A deep V-neck plunged down, nearly reaching the singer's navel, while her skirt fell to mid-thigh.

Nude shoes, dangling and bejewelled earrings, and some rings completed the look.

Having performed during Time Warner Cable's VMA benefit concert on Friday, Demi was scheduled to take the stage again - this time performing her new single, Cool For The Summer - for the main event on Sunday night.

Cool For The Summer is the first track off of Demi's upcoming fifth studio album, Confident.

During the VMAs pre-show, the singer stopped to chat with Kelly Osbourne, who insisted that Demi was her 'favourite person to come down the carpet today.'

Demi used the opportunity to talk about her album, set for an October 16 release: 'I named the album Confident, because that's where I'm at in my life. Also it's one of the songs.'

She then hinted that her Cool For The Summer performance at the awards show would include a special guest and 'a lot of skin.'

Demi has been displaying a particularly sexy image recently, something visible both on her Confident album cover and in a recent Cosmopolitan cover story.

'It took so much for me to get to a place where I would feel comfortable enough to do that,' she told E! News on August 18.

'It's showing all of my fans who know my story and my journey that I've gone from hating every inch of my body to doing a photo shoot in my underwear in front of the entire world.'

The former Sonny With A Chance star had clearly continued her journey to self-confidence at the VMAs.
