'She resents me': Alana Stewart voices frustration over strained relationship with daughter Kimberly on Stewarts & Hamiltons

Alana Stewart broke down in tears on Sunday's episode of her family's reality show over her strained relationship with daughter Kimberly.

Rod Stewart's ex-wife wept as she confessed on Stewarts & Hamiltons that she had made mistakes as a mother and was struggling to build a better bond with her daughter.

Talking to her family during a dinner in Palm Springs, she said: 'I don't think I deserve it. I know I wasn't a perfect mother and I know all the things I did wrong.'

She added to the camera: 'Kimberly still holds onto some resentment towards me. When Kimberly was 12, Ashley was having severe addiction problems at the time and Sean was having severe problems of his own.

'I just feel like somehow Kimberly got lost in the shuffle a little bit and I didn't give her my full attention like I should have. I would love to break through the walls,' Alana said.

Tensions rose between Alana, 70, and Kimberly, 36, during their family vacation as Kimberly seemed more interested in spending time with her friends than her mother.

Alana was frustrated when her daughter invited pals Dean and Stephanie to a spa day she had planned for the two of them – and was even less relaxed when she found herself having a massage next to Dean.

'I'm laying next to Alana and I can't resist. I have to mess with her,' Dean said, before taking over Alana's massage.

'You idiot,' she shouted, when she realised it was Dean hands on her back. 'I have never been more unpeaceful in my life.'

Alana also was upset when she discovered Kimberly, Dean and Stephanie had been snooping around her bedroom and taken her Taser electroshock weapon.

'You really did invade my privacy. I don't think it's funny,' she said.

She also blasted Stephanie who had been flirting with George Hamilton also mocked the spiritual messages Alana had written on a notepad.

'You know what Stephanie, you can f*** around with my ex-husband but you can't read my spiritual s***,' Alana hissed.

Alana later fumed about her daughter's behaviour.

'Kimberly should have just come on vacation with her friends because she isn't taking part in anything I've planned for the family,' she complained.

Kimberly eventually sat down with her mother and the pair discussed the tension between them.

After Alana said she felt Dean came between them, Kimberly told the camera: 'I probably do use Dean as a buffer because it takes away the tension my mom and I sometimes have.

'I'm starting to realise that I probably, in order to have a better relationship with my mom, need to spend some time with her without a buffer there,' Kimberly conceded.

While Alana and Kim were working through their struggles, Ashley Hamilton, 40, and Ali Stepka decided to end their relationship and move forward as friends.

The couple had rowed over Ali's marijuana smoking and the fact she had chosen to go straight to a bar before spending time with Ashley.

During an emotional conversation, Ali said: 'I don't know what to say right now. I just feel like we're in two very different places. I feel like we're having a hard time getting on the same plane.

'I want you to have someone that can be there for you and support you and I feel like I'm not at the point in my life where I can do that.

'We have a really great friendship where we have something really great between us, but I feel like us trying to make it into a relationship at this point in our lives is not working. It's getting hard trying to force something,' Ali said.

'You might have different values than I have, but that doesn't divide us. I struggle with that with my brothers and sisters all the time. If you feel out of place, we're here to embrace you,' Kimberly said.

GT offered a heartfelt apology.

'I just want to apologise for saying a comment like that. I see how it could offend any woman,' GT said.

'I totally understand and I shouldn't have gone at you so aggressive,' Kimberly reassured him.
