She is an ever-present courtside leading the cheers for her husband – and, on occasion, swearing at his opponents.

So it may surprise tennis fans to hear that, according to Andy Murray, his wife does not seek any of the attention that comes her way.

The world number three, who married Kim Sears in April, said his pregnant wife hates appearing in newspapers and does not like people commenting on the designer dresses she wears to matches – despite her many fashionable appearances at Wimbledon.

Murray, 28, rarely speaks about his 27-year-old artist wife. But he opened up in an interview focusing on how he juggles his relationship and career. And Murray said she finds it frustrating when the focus is on her, not least at Wimbledon.

He added: ‘I know she doesn’t like that and doesn’t want that. We’ve never asked for that.

'It’s not something she courts. She doesn’t like being in the newspapers, and people commenting on what she’s wearing and how she looks, and those sorts of things.

'That’s one of the things that I guess she’s also sacrificed, a little bit, for our relationship, and I appreciate that a lot.

'But hopefully there’s only a few more years left of it, and then we can get away from all of that stuff.’

Miss Sears’ outfits stole the spotlight at this year’s Wimbledon.

They included a red-and-white floral Beulah shirt dress and a floral print Ted Baker dress with Peter Pan collar. Magazine Marie Claire said: ‘Kim Sears’ fashion choices have been one of our favourite things about Wimbledon.’

In this year’s Australian Open, during her husband’s semi-final against Czech Tomas Berdych she was caught on camera apparently saying: ‘F****** have it, you flashy Czech f***!’

Then during the final she poked fun at the ensuing row, wearing a top with the slogan: ‘Parental Advisory: Explicit Content.’
