'I don't want to be in the squad': Miley Cyrus slams Taylor Swift by saying she doesn't need celebrity pals like Selena Gomez as she prefers 'real people'

Miley Cyrus says she has no interest in hanging with Taylor Swift's 'squad,' which includes Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss.

The 22-year-old wild-child singer told The New York Times that she isn't interested in hanging out with famous friend, and prefers to spend her time with normal people.

While Swift is happy to collect a group of 'musicians, actresses, models, entrepreneurs', the Hannah Montana vet said she'd rather hang out with 'real' people who can inspire her.

'I’m not trying to be in the squad,' the Wrecking Ball singer explained.

'None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I’m inspired by them.'

Swift often posts Instagram photos of herself with her group of young, successful and famous friends. The group also includes model Cara Delevingne, actress Jamie King and Girls creator Lena Dunham.

Make a style statement in sequins like Taylor Swift

Well, we can hardly accuse Taylor Swift of not making an effort can we? Ever the shy and retiring wallflower (!) Ms Swift made sure all eyes were on her for the VMA's as she posed up a storm in this dazzling sequinned two-piece by Ashish.

It comes as no surprise to us, seeing as Ashish Gupta is nicknamed the 'king of sequins' and is well known for transforming sportswear with high-octane embellishments.

We love the houndstooth print and opulence of the all-over sequins of these co-ordinates, while the jogger style trousers keep the look young and fun.

And while we're not sure if we have the fashion chops to pull off the whole look, we always have time for a sequinned crop top here at Fashion Finder! Perfect for adding a little dose of festivity to any outfit, a bejeweled top with look fabulous styled with a simple midi skirt and heels.

Feeling suitably inspired? We've lined up some sizzling lookalikes in our edit below to help you get that Taylor glow. Go for a sweatshirt style at Joa or full-on embellishment with this Parker offering.

At the Video Music Awards on Sunday, Swift brought her 'squad' from her Bad Blood music video with her for support, laughing it up in the audience and later bringing them on stage to accept the Video Of The Year Award.

The Bad Blood gang included model Martha Hunt, actress Hailee Steinfeld, Hadid, actress Serayah, model Lily Aldridge, actress Mariska Hargitay and model Karlie Kloss.

Meanwhile, a host of the chaotic awards show, Miley continued to raise eyebrows with her outrageous and revealing outfits.

But the former Disney star told The New York Times that she's not bothered by nudity.

And she proved it by posting a naked photograph of herself as she got up early to get ready for her hosting duties.

'I put naked pictures on my Instagram - I don't care,' she said. 'It’s not interesting anymore to see me like that.'

The singer also released her new album Dead Petz, which she spent $50,000 to record outside of her RCA record deal.

The album is available free on her website, and was produced by her creative partner and mentor, the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne, 54, who Cyrus said she was 'in love with.'

'He’s everything in the world - you can’t even define us,' Miley said of their connection.

'I am 100 per cent in love with Wayne, and Wayne is in love with me, but it’s nothing sexual in any way. That would be the grossest.'

The singer also talked about her sexuality and gender, saying;

'I feel very gender-fluid,' she said.

'For a long time I didn’t understand my own sexuality. I would get really frustrated and think I’d never understand what I am, because I can’t even figure out if I’m feeling more like a girl or boy.

'It took me talking to enough trans people to realize that I didn’t ever have to decide on one.'
