She impressed audiences with her first acting role, playing her doppelganger Kylie Minogue in the INXS telemovie last year.

And now Samantha Jade, 28, has scored herself a permanent acting gig on the popular Aussie soap drama Home And Away.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the Firestarter singer revealed that she is over the moon to be joining the Summer Bay cast after having her sights set on the career path for a while.

'It is really exciting. I've wanted to do more acting and I wanted to do something unexpected and different and this is very very different to Kylie (Minogue),' she told the publication.

Samantha – who grew up watching the long running drama - will play the character of Isla, but can't reveal many details surrounding her role as her scenes will not premiere on the show until early next year.

'I can't say too much but I can say she comes to the Bay with bad intentions. She has a bit of a past and she falls for one of the favourite boys on the show,' the former X Factor Australia winner said.

Whilst she revealed that learning lines doesn't intimate her, the pop singer confessed that being shot in a bikini was a challenge.

'It is always a bit nerve-wracking for a girl (being filmed in swimwear) but if they shoot it right, I'd like them to make me look a bit taller,' she said.

Samantha appears to be following in the footsteps of Kylie, who came to fame playing Charlene on another Aussie soap, Neighbours.

Samantha dressed to impress in a glimmering top from Australian designer Aje that showed off her small frame.

The fitted number featured splashes of gold, silver, black and white, the metallic skirt teamed with a long-sleeved white Kookai blouse which still allowed a glimpse of her tummy to be on show.

No doubt working the whole stage as she kept fans entertained on the day, Samantha kept a firm grip on her microphone throughout the performance.

The sassy songstress was seen belting out the high notes, while also pulling some impressive moves with her backup dancers right behind her.

Samantha shot to fame after taking out the winning title of X Factor Australia in 2012 and went on to become one of the country's biggest pop stars.

The past year has proved to be a difficult one for Samantha and her family following the passing away of her mother Jacqui after a battle with cancer in June last year.

But keeping herself focused on work when she can, the singer has since released several tracks including Sweet Talk and Shake That featuring none other than international musician Pitbull.

The star is also set to release a new album in October.
